Akiton/Gate’s Pass/Thrash Bar

Elyea coughed a bit as dust blew in her face. Her hair was going to be ruined in this dry desert heat. She missed the lush forests of Castroval where she’d attended university, and the climate control of Absalom Station where she’d grown up.

Elyea was bumped by a large Vesk that nearly bowled her over as they entered the Thrash Landing cantina. Elyea spotted Tolar sitting alone at a table and indicated him to the others.

“Castroval wine, white, if you have it,” Elyea ordered from the bar.

The bartender stared at her.

Elyea sighed.

“Whatever the local brew is.”

The bartender grinned and pulled out the mug, filling it with something green and frothy.

Elyea tried not to pull a face. She took her drink and moved over to the table with Tolar.

“Sorry we’re late.”

"Have you finished analyzing that last data packet I uploaded to your memory, Kala?" asked the slightly worn looking kasatha as he looked through a local newsfeed on his computer's glowing screen. Dust had built up on his robes, but either he was a bit tired to have bothered shaking them out. An empty glass lie in front of his on the table.

"Yes, sir, and it appea- oh, you have company."

Tolar looked up just in time to see Elyea reach the edge of the table, mug of the house specialty in hand.

"Sorry we're late."

The kasatha shifted in his seat a bit, the motioned with his upper right arm for his visitors to a seat. "I learned long ago the virtues of patience," he said, his tone with the slightest hint of wistfulness. "You are here now, and that is just fine with me."

Leaning forward to rest the arm that his computer is strapped to on the table, he says, "Kala, ready the files pertaining to our mission from Baxter. I think our comrades would like to know what we have learned so far about gaining entry to Gate's Pass and locating our mutual 'friend'."

"Hooray," deadpanned Echo as she took a seat. "The Expositor comes through. Lets hear it."

She passed her fingers over her left forearm, and glowing holographic lines appeared in midair over the appendage. Echo manipulated the 'control panel' a little with her right hand and said, "All right, I got the upload. Talk as I read though, I wanna hear your take."

Elyea took a seat and sipped her drink and pulled a face. “This is hardly drinkable,” she said, pushing the mug away. She settled her elbows on the table to listen to the briefing.

Crash grinned at Elyea.

"Never tasted the green ones before?" he asks while getting his own fill. "It's an acquired taste, alright."

He takes a big gulp of his drink, grimaces and coughs a few times, before his smile returns. Hoarsely, he says, "Good stuff."

Crash places the mug before him on the table, not taking a next sip just yet, before sitting himself down and turning to Tolar. The pilot nods in greeting, then focuses on the information from Tolar's computer, waiting before every last bit of information has been conveyed.

Terra takes a seat that gives her the greatest vantage point over the establishment. She didn't look for anything in particular but found a simple joy in watching species interact with one another. The exact meaning of their natural mannerism and subtle shifts in body language were fascinating to watch, even if the meaning of it all escaped her.

Kala’s files show a mix of facts and rumors that have been gathered from data files and from talking to some of the locals. Records show Torrent has checked into the Hangry Goat Hotel, apparently the owner of the Hangry Goat has been taken into custody by the local police and all guest rooms were searched, some items taken. All hotel residents were allowed to stay at hotel until the siege of the city had passed.

The Radiant Imperium forces were closing in on surrounding the city, would most likely have the city completely undersiege in less than 2 days. Approximately 30 miles from Lyceum to Gate’s Pass.

Two transports a day to Gate’s Pass, mostly empty. Unless joining the Gate’s Pass freedom forces the city is closed to all weapons.

5 gates into the city. Two mains gates on the east and west side for commercial traffic heavily guarded by elite forces, extremely hard to sneak through or bribe.

Three smaller gates on the south side, guarded at all times but with city militia and two possibly three guards instead of a dozen or more guards and wards.

The atmosphere in Gate’s Pass has turned hostile, more and more people have been accused of colluding with the enemy and have been taken prisoner by the Inquisitors. Inquisitors seem to be hired by town as mercenary/investigators.

“Well, seems like a right friendly place, wot?” Elyea noted after reading through the information on Gate’s Pass. “Looks like the southern gates would be the easiest to get through. Do the transports drop off at those gates, or do they go through the main gate?” she asked. “We might need to find our own transport if that is the case. Might be good to have our own if we need a quick escape, as well.”
