Stargate Emoverse to be cancelled

I'm not upset to see it go either; the show stumbled badly in the first season and recovered far too late. Despite the fact that there were some truly terrible episodes, I never actively wished it to be canceled, and if numbers didn't matter I'd prefer keeping it on the air. Alas, that is not how show business works.

heh...take the op and put in opposite world and that's how I feel. I kept watching it cause I really liked it and will be sad to see it go.

It's not necessarily dead. MGM owns the Stargate franchise, not SyFy. Right now it's only that SyFy won't pick it up for a third season. MGM hasn't said whether they were going to let it die or try to shop it around to another network. I really don't know what other channel might be interested in it, so it may be a moot point...but it's not dead until MGM says it's dead.

B-)

Are you some kind of TV Masochist that watches shows you obviously hate?

Nope. I am a huge Stargate fan with plenty of DVR storage space.

At times SG1 and SGA had weak episodes in the first 3 seasons. So I gave the benefit of the doubt. The problem is those shows had a great character mix that helped it. SGU does not at all.

Unfortunately neither the episodes, nor the cast (outside of Rush) show any sign of decency in the episodes so far.

So I have basically flushed the show and feel no loss at is likely demise.

Whooh! You must have stopped watching early in the shows run.

If you'd seen the end of season 1 and the first 10 episodes of season 2, you would definitely not put "Rush" and "decent" in the same sentence...

:D

SGU was by far my favorite, with the other two feeling full of unrealistic melodrama and tensionless intrigue. I watched several seasons of both and lots of episodes in other seasons because they often had redeeming entertainment value, but I never enjoyed either enough to recommend them.

SGU, on the other hand, felt much more real and the danger felt much more important. The mysteries were more interesting, and while it certainly had its dumb moments, was good enough that I recommended it several times.

Obviously very much to each his own.

Once upon a time, there was a show like that. It was called Sliders.

If I remember, ScyFy also "saved" that one to ruin it also. Actually, they saved SG-1 and it took 10 years before they ruined the Stargate franchise...whereas with Sliders they simply went on to ruin it almost immediately upon making new episodes (I particularly like how they continue it after they end just about every character's lifeline with some sort of tragedy...except for one who one could argue is or is not the original as well).

Hey, they can't save 'em all! I thought some of the later episodes were pretty cool, but you're right, it wasn't up to the same standards as before they picked it up.
