Stargate SG-1:Season Finale {Spoiler Talk}25.03.05

Hopefully the remaining characters will get to expand a bit once Ben Browder is thrown into the works for the new season.

My only complaint is that the alternate timeline SG-1 just seemed to go along with everything way too casually. There was the initial questioning about what happens when they go through the gate, but after that it was pretty much business as usual. Good episode otherwise and I also liked the fish in his pond. :)

Yeah, I noticed that too. I was just hoping that future/past Daniel Jackson and the alts didn't decide to join forces and go back to the present where they would take the place of the characters we all know (such a thing is not without precedent in Scifi. Remember when Alternate univer Harry permanently took the place of the regular universe Harry in Voyager). It was a relief when that didn't happen.

I clearly remember that. A shame they never mentioned it again. "Deadlock" is one of my all-time favorite Voyager eps.

Loved the finale! I'm not sure if I am looking forward to the next season, as they hinted at a new cast. I am glad that I recorded both parts of the finale, I am going to be watching it plenty!!!

I would be completely happy if they would have swapped the last two episodes with the previous two episodes.

My sentiments exactly. Though, I would've preferred that the whole Ancient weapon/Jaffa Rebellion/Anubis story into two episodes, and the Sam/Jack/Jacob thing into its own.

It seemed to me that the regular timeline was *fated* to occur, and that the lives the alts were leading were in some sense unnatural. Thus, it seemed that given the opportunity they gravitated towards acting as those they are supposed to be instead of who they were. The dormant potential of their natural selves also explains Daniels being able to withstand Apophis' torture and Carter having an affinity for working with alien technology.

I agree with Crothian

it was just a simple way to show things had changed.

First, I didn't like the last two episodes. I HATE Time travel crap. They weren't bad in one respect though - ONE change upset EVERYTHING else in a major way and fixing it will never put it back exactly the way it was.

Their FIX, wasn't really a fix. It still changed things, but how badly we won't know for sure, though they hint that its only minor and subtle. What we do know is that SOME THINGS have changed - i.e the fish in the pond. Good use of foreshadowing. Next season will show what else has shifted.

Bottom line - it gives the writers room to really shake things up if they want to. I suspect they will, but they'll be cognizant of "canon" so they don't mess with viewers heads too much.

Oh and by the way - what the hell powered the ancient weapon that destroyed the replicators? Had to be a ZPM. Why not gank that one? Just a thought.....

hey now ... that's a darn good thought ... what the heck did power that thing, it had to pretty massive.

Possibly the planet itself, ZPMs are just battaries (sure long lasting), they get depleated.

what if making ZPM's drains heat/energy from the core of a planet ... the ancients would be creating huge lifeless rocks in space and what not.

if the power source is the planet itself I wonder if it can be controlled for long periods of time and therefore be used as a planetary power source ... or if was a massive discharge that needed to be released ...

inquiring geeks want to know ...
