STARGATE UNIVERSE # 14:Human/Season 1/2010

Thought the FX use of a tunnel was a symbolization of Rush's tunnel vision.

Also, Greer is quick to shoot at things, should be running out of ammo soon.

Yeah, I'm going to have to cut him slack on this one. If I saw a spider that size, I would have been both quicker to shoot it *and* a lot less calm about getting Chloe to move first.

Spiders don't bother me much -- I've held a friend's tarrantula on more than one occasion -- but that thing was CREEPY.

Well, It could have been friendly and looking to start a dialog. ;)

Well then, if this is true, I reckon we're finally gonna get some specific clues concerning what Rush's true motivations are regarding Destiny and the mission, and maybe even about who may be involved with the original acts of espionage, sabotage, and betrayal.

Icarus blowing up; fake Daniel Jackson mentioned a mole in the Lucien Alliance that found the planet. It suggests either they were set-up, or that there was a similar mole at Icarus base for the LA.

The only espionage and betrayal is how the Lucien Alliance found Icarus Base to attack it. The base blew up because Rush dialed the Ninth Chevron, and the enormous power surge blew the unstable planet/moon up. The whole place was like one big super-volcano, which is why they choose it for the project.

Jackson did mention in this episode that a contact within the Lucien Alliance helped them find the planet for the base . . . so, it seems that this contact might have been compromised or betrayed Stargate Command, resulting on the attack on Icarus Base by the Lucien Alliance.

Yeah, it was a super-creepy head-sized big black spider with a very human looking mouth full of fangs. I'm thinking shooting it was the right thing to do, tunnel collapse or not! I really hope they don't run into any more of those things!

Rush wouldn't recognize a clue if it was nailed to his forehead by a pneumatic nailgun. That guy is stubbornly slow on the uptake, and takes hints like he thinks he might contract consumption from em or something.

Huh? Like the number "46" repeating itself through Rush's familiar surroundings was obvious? I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one . . . .

Rush was looking for a pattern in the data from the chair, and the pattern showed up within the memories themselves. Not obvious by a long shot and because Rush is brilliant that he did finally subconsciously recognize the pattern.

I think maybe there was several layers to what was going on in this episode. The answer was 46, partially because of the relation to human genetics mentioned in the episode. But I think also it was connected to the death of Rush's wife because he's been constantly beating himself up over it, and I felt after Daniel's second appearance that coming to grips with it, when he's really been avoiding it for two or more years was the real answer rather than trying to solve some piece of code. That's because the Ancients have always been big on the whole mind-body wholeness/oneness spiritual stuff, and it's connected to ascension and all that. That's why all the information was coming faster to Rush when he was with her, but he's so busy running from his feelings that he didn't get it. He must have picked up enough on the Ancients by this point that he shouldn't have been so clueless on it.

Jackson: "Well, it's not the ultimate answer to Life, the Universe and Everything..."
Me: "Yeah, you're off by 4."
Jackson: "...that's 42. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
Me: "Yeah, thanks Jackson, I hardly needed that lampshaded."

The subplot with the ruins was pretty good. I laughed with malicious glee when that spider showed up, because of Chloe freaking out over the cobwebs. She needs a good scare. At the beginning of the episode, I sarcastically referred to her as the "emotion vampire" when she went over to Eli, because she's the type of person who can be just so draining at times. And there's that mean game she's playing with Eli (probably even subconsciously) where's she toying with his feelings, and wants to be "friends" while likely oblivious to the crush he has on her.

Annoyed that Hulu's now on an 8-day delay for the episodes. Kind of messes with web discussions of the show when you know people are already talking about the plot for the next episode before you've even seen the freakin' previous one. More wonderful 20th century "thinking" from the entrtainment industry. Hey bozos, check a calendar, it's 2010 already for crying out loud!

I'm in the same boat as you. I wonder if this has anything to do with the rumored subscription plan they're coming out with.

It hasn't happened yet, but I'm always afraid when reading these threads that somebody's going to inadvertently spoil something from the most recent episode, which I haven't seen yet. It wasn't that big of a deal when it was only a 1 day delay, because I would just avoid the thread for that one day, but when there was a whole other episode released in between the thread getting started and me reading it, it makes me nervous that somebody's gonna slip up and accidentally spoil something.

I don't get SyFy, and while I agree there are lots of good shows on expanded cable I cannot justify the cost, which is why I'm forced to watch this show on Hulu.
