I believe Lou Diamond Phillips is on board as a recurring character ( im prediciting his death right here though), Alaina Huffman (from a short lived tv show which name I cant remember), apparently an actress also that used to be on ER (Ming Na?)

The first few episodes I believe do features some Stargate franchise characters, O'Neil for starters.

The major fear is that early on in the show, the lost Crew will somehow be able to manage an intermittent contact with Earth.. thus letting the show access Franchise characters.. much of what Atlantis did in later seasons to its detriment. I think if you are doing a show like this you need to completely seperate it and let it run itself.

I've only been following the development from afar, but it seems that they do, in fact, very quicly establish a holographic/telepathic link with Stargate Command.

So, SGU is basically starting off in the same situation that Voyager ended in. In fact, the whole premise seems like a tired retread of Voyager... (you can even have the 'malfunctioning holodeck' episodes!) I somehow doubt they'll be able to attract many fans outside of the hardcore SG set.

Personally, I think the producers would have had better results by focusing on the straight-to-DVD movies, and getting a brand new creative team develop something really original.

I hope it looks like Voyager in the beginning, but becomes a Battlestar Galactica in the end.

Wishful thinking? Perhaps.
