Hmm... I have to wonder what the DM to Player ratio of the responses in this thread are. I find that DMs love this kind of thing (PCs having to scrounge) whereas Players typically find it annoying and/or boring. Especially in this case where the PCs don't even have a weapon, unless you're running a stealth or intrigue game.
