Stats for a pineapple?

Those college students DIED FOR NOTHING?!

YES, but that's ok. They signed the indemnity form.

Spikey? Piercing damage? I'd say they should do Bludgeoning damage instead, as their not that pointy-all-over ...

Yes, bludgeoning and spikey piercing! We must talk to WotC about this to include in 3.5..

But I must. A rock seems more useful, and can be found in places other then warm tropical climates.

So you mean to say rocks do not exist in warm tropical climates... which is why natives turn to pineapples and other large fruit?

I was just about to say coconuts, but coconuts are NOT fruit. Apparently it's an endosperm (those at the back stop giggling!). However, upon emptying and drinking liquid within coconut, they make excellent siege weapons. They can also be halved for use as helmets.

Yes, and don't forget that while daggers are nice, simple weapons of mayhem and death, the innocuous pineapple is an exotic weapon unless weilded in melee.

Yeah, and the juice is really acidic :D. A cut half of (or a mushed) pineaple could be far more dangerous than a whole one. We're talking grenade-like weapon with major (DC22+?) Fort save to avoid blindness <wince>. The screaming that accompanies getting splashed in the face with pineaple juice is a nice dramatic touch for GM's who really love a good narative during a fight ;).

Pineapples do 6d6 fire damage in a 10' radius, Ref half, DC 17. Duh. Doesn't anyone here read Piers Anthony? :p

I think you're being a little silly here. Now come on, chip up and put some serious thought into it.

It should be the equivalent of ALCHEMISTS FIRE which has a REFLEX SAVE of 15.

Yes, scholars have verified that pineapples were favoured by the prostitutes who used them to protect themselves, and pineapple juice (which is also a spermicide because of its acid content) was a favourite of theirs to blind customers and subsequently rob them. This practise naturally led to the term pineapple tarts.

Realism is all well and good, but are we forgetting game balance?

The dagger, a thrown/melee simple tiny weapon with an increment of 10 feet, d4 damage, and 19-20 crit. Pineapple, a thrown/melee exotic small weaopn. Size upgrade = d6 damage, at least. I'd just give it a 20 crit, which dual damage type (piercing/bludgeoning) should make up for. Since it's an exotic weapon, it needs another special quality. Maybe it blinds a target on a nat20, unless they make a Reflex save (DC 15 or so)?
