Stunned condition

The other day my PCs were stunned for multiple rounds by a series of mind blasts from some illithids.

We couldn't find any spells etc that remove the stunned condition. Does anyone know of any? If not, are there any suggestions for level, effect etc for a spell that does this?

Cheers

IIRC, the Mind Blast is an Instant effect, so there's nothing for the Dispel to remove. Similarly, a Dispel won't restore lost hit points from a Fireball. The spell's already dissipated but the effect remains.

Yeah, Freedom would do it! Hadn't spotted that one, but I was hoping for something a tad lower in level!

Remove Paralysis is second level, but doesn't say that it deals with stunned creatures:

"You can free one or more creatures from the effects of any temporary paralysis or from related magic, including a ghoul's touch, a hold spell or a slow spell"

Any more ideas?

Cheers

If you wave your hands enough, you could probably say that _freedom of movement_ ("...enables the creature to move and attack normally for the duration of the spell, even under the influence of magic that usually impedes movement...") would do the trick.

Nnnnh.

I dunno about that one. I looked at it myself... and I think, reading the lists of what conditions and spells are affected by Freedom and by Freedom of Movement, that "stunned" probably falls outside of FoM's demesne.

That would make a cleric with the Travel domain effectively immune to stunning a lot of the time, and that feels wrong...

Looking at the example spells, I see hold person as one influence that can be negated. That's a mind-affecting enchantment, not a physical paralysis or restricting effect. So a mindblast shouldn't be too out of line.

For those who've played the Baldur's Gate CRPGs, there's also a precedent; in those games, free action stopped you from getting stunned or blasted by mind flayers.

Sleep is a mind-affecting enchantment that stops you moving. The "do nothing for one round" effect of Confusion is a mind-affecting enchantment that stops you moving.

I see both of these as being closer to "stunned" than a Hold Person. And I wouldn't let FoM affect either of them.

I could be convinced to let Break Enchantment do it.
