Summoner Core Class

Wow, it's pretty cool. Thanks. I'm just wondering if it shouldn't get a limited spell list instead of calling points? All arcane and divine conjuration spells, all teleportation type spells, all "ask an outsider/deity" type spells (augury, commune), and maybe enchantment spells for when they summon up something they need to control? I went through the Psi HB and found a bunch of cool conjuration type powers that could fit nicely in the conjuration spell list...

I see the summoner as someone who imposes his will on the multiverse to get what he desires. Instant gratification. Need help? Summon monsters! Lost something/someone? Teleport them to you. Need something/someone? Create it out of thin air.

Your Caller class comes close but might be a little too narrowly focused for me. I'll read it again. Thoughts?

... Shouldn't you not be reprinting like whole sections of the Mind's Eye from Wizards? But anyway, that's just a nitpick.

Really, I find nothing wrong with the way summoning is now. If anything, I'd use a Prestige Class instead of a core class. Demonologist and.. the ... other one... they might have a new, smaller spell list, but they summon bigger and better demons with lower level spells (I think they can get up to Summon Monster list IX demons with their highest level spells.. which I think are 5th level).

Your caller looks to me like a shaper with the Constructor prestige class all rolled into a single unit. I don't really know if I'd do it this way... it might throw game balance off a bit (or require work) but I would rather see a Summoner type person that uses a different method than the standard Summon Monster-esque abilities. Perhaps more along the line of the Planar Ally spells, though with stronger and weaker versions stretched throughout their levels... and a much longer duration and number of uses per day. Yeah... I think i might try to do that....
 

Second Draft: Updated the spell list from all available sources I have on hand), removed charm/dominate outsider, removed second level bonus feat (augment).

Summoner Third Draft posted: new feats, new spells added. If I could just find my DotF, I'd have all the spells done. Otherwise, it's looking complete. Now that I've added just about everything I can think of, it's time to pare down the spell list and other features of the class. Help! :D
