Sunless Citadel 3.5e Campaign Recruiting!

IndyPendant

First Post
I'm going to try my hand at a PbP campaign. I am itching to GM another game, but as a family man just can't commit to another fixed-block evening per week. However, I could easily commit to a daily PbP game. So.

The campaign will be 3.5e, and you will be going through the module "The Sunless Citadel". There will be a lot of combat, but I also like roleplaying and skill use, so I will try to emphasize those as much as possible (and the Citadel does have interesting ideas to promote that as well! : ) If the Citadel module goes well, I'll likely continue on to the next modules in the series.

Evil Need Not Apply! I like good-oriented campaigns. Your chars don't need to be perfect, of course--you don't even necessarily need to get along (within reason). But the 'gooder' you are, the better you'll do.

You will need to be able to post once a day. Of course, if something happens to keep you from doing so, let me know. Long-term commitment (at least until the end of the Citadel module) is also required.

I have over five years experience as an online GM--but this will be my first PbP campaign. So (constructive!) suggestions are always welcome during the campaign.

Anything from the SRD will be fine, except psionics. (Personal preference. I despise psionics in a fantasy setting, so don't allow it in my campaigns. Period.) Additional supplements can be checked with me, and I will rule on a case-by-case basis. I currently have the Complete Arcane, Complete Warrior, and Complete Divine. (Edit: And the 3.0 FRCS. Forgot that one.) I might allow things from other supplements, but in that case you would need to type it up and submit it to me privately to review. (Posting them on these forums publicly is probably illegal or something. : ) In any case, if it's not SRD, check with me before setting your heart on a concept!

I'm looking for six players. I want at least one of each archetype: warrior, priest, thief, and mage. Beyond that, play whatever you'd like. I've got about 3981739128 house rules, but I'm going to leave those out of this campaign for now. No need to make things more complicated than they already are...: ) The campaign will be based *very* loosely in the Dalelands of the Forgotten Realms, but if you have a concept that involves something from another setting, check with me; I may be able to accomodate that. You certainly don't need any Realms books to play.

You'll start at 1st level. Char generation will be standard point-buy, 28 points. Don't roll for starting wealth; take 1/2 the maximum amount possible for your class instead. And hit points also will not be rolled; you will get max hit points at 1st level as per usual, and average hit points for each level thereafter.

The characters will start the campaign knowing each other. Players can even work out common histories between their chars if they wish. The first six players to show an interest will get tentative placement in the group, pending char submission. I will initially take six alternates as well (assuming I get that many interested people!) which will get first dibs should the main players not come through. I will list the player and alternate names in my first response below.

Once you know you're in (or an alternate) please post a character in this thread (for now), including a history and description, as well as anything else you'd like to describe. Depending on how fast things get rolling, we could start as soon as next week.

If you have any questions, just ask.

Thanks, and have fun!

Player lists.

Okay, here's the list I've got atm for players. Note that these char types for the players, listed below are not locked in; you can change your char if you want. The one caveat to this being that I do need at least one of each 'archetype'. For anything that needs to be submitted to me privately, my emai| add is IndyPendant(big-ol'at symbol)hotmail(dotty)com.

Players:
JimAde: Rogue
Sorrow The Man Bear: Human Sorceror
Mithran: Gnome Illusionist
Voadam: Human Spontaneous Druid (concept spec'd around wildshape)
Two-Gun Kid: Earth Genasi Fighter
Jayaint: Human Monk/Cleric

Alternates:
Scotley
Ferrix

Is material from the FRCS and Magic of Faerun books OK? Those are the two 3e FR books I have though I have a ton of older edition stuff. How about the spontaneous divine caster option for druids and clerics from Unearthed Arcana? I find spontaneous casters easier to keep track of for online games. For druids they have slots like a normal druid but spells known as a sorcerer using the druid list plus summon nature's ally. For clerics it is the same but they know their domain spells instead of SNA.

Voadam, I don't give a flat 'yes' to *any* non-SRD books. For the three books I've listed above, (Hrm. And the FRCS. Forgot I had that one. Editing the original post accordingly. : ) you can just name what you want and I can give a yay/nay on it. For any other books (including the Magic of Faerun you mentioned) you would need to describe what you wanted.

And if what you have stated is all the spontaneous divine casters get, then I could see allowing the druid as is. The cleric seems way too powerful that way, although I would allow a spontaneous cleric to use divine slots to spontaneously cast spells from the domain list, and to get the Healing Domain spells 'free' (for the regular slots) the way the druid gets SNA.
