Yes he was very stupid. He would have won had he not taken Tina. Its still my favorite season so far.

Maybe not that stupid. I'd be willing to bet that Colby has made more money after Survivor based upon his "good guy" image than he would have made had he been the "backstabber" type.

What they do show is everything that Mark Burnett considers "truly important" for telling the story they want to focus on that week. Nothing less, and rarely anything more.

He is the producer, and as such, the show is the entertainment package that he wants to present. And it works - the show is very entertaining, and well rated. A lot of people saw it as a flash in the pan, that the appeal of would die off. That started to happen with Survivor's 3 & 4, but he's managed to get the interest back with 5, and it has been growing since then. And the production values on the show are also quite good compared to other reality shows.
