D&D 5E Survivor Worst Spells: FIND TRAPS IS THE WORST!

In any case, hidden does not equal no line of sight, so even a hidden trap is still within line of sight and therefore subject to the spell.

Correct.

I would prefer it to being a Concentration(1 minute) spell though, with a radius effect (maybe 30'), blocked by walls/doors though. Then it might be useful. As the point about 'treading on a Rogue's toes' that someone made earlier is not applicable, with a Rogue in the party a Cleric is unlikely to consider the spell anyway.

5e uses language that is deliberately vague and confusing in order to push forward the rulings over rules philosophy. The hide rules are very clearly for creatures only. Nothing in those rules is about anything other than a creature hiding. You would rule that the hide rules which are for creatures only are also for objects, but I wouldn't.
The hide rules very clearly include both creatures and objects, or there wouldn't be an entire section on Hidden Objects or multiple references of hidden creatures AND objects. Objects just don't have the ability to hide themselves, being inanimate. Someone else has to hide them.
In any case, hidden does not equal no line of sight, so even a hidden trap is still within line of sight and therefore subject to the spell.
Depends on the table, which is a big part of the problem. I actually agree with you, personally, though my homebrew solution was just to make the spell penetrate walls. But I've seen several DMs rule that it can't go around the slightest corner, that it can't even detect a trap inside a chest (on the argument that the trap is inside the chest), that it can't detect pressure plates, etc. I've also seen some generous rulings, like one DM who allowed Find Traps to find angry humanoids who wanted to kill you.

But just the fact that there is so much confusion and vagueness, and we're even having this conversation? That's a huge mark against Find Traps. No other spell in this thread has so much "Wait, how the heck does this work?" except maybe True Strike.

Let's see, does everything to a single target that fear does to multiple targets at a level lower. Then the target must fail two saves before taking a single point of piddly damage. What's not to love?
