Not every hard to see object is hidden, but most hidden objects would have the DC set by whoever hid the object in the first place, the same as any object you take with you when you hide. Similarly, not every trap is hidden, but most of them are intentionally hidden by the person who put them there. And if "HIDDEN" is not natural language for "HIDE" then I don't know what language we're speaking. :p

5e uses language that is deliberately vague and confusing in order to push forward the rulings over rules philosophy. The hide rules are very clearly for creatures only. Nothing in those rules is about anything other than a creature hiding. You would rule that the hide rules which are for creatures only are also for objects, but I wouldn't.

In any case, hidden does not equal no line of sight, so even a hidden trap is still within line of sight and therefore subject to the spell.
