Spoilers SW: Skeleton crew discussion thread

Mildly entertaining, but the one that pushes buttons really annoys me. I can see the others locking him in the brig until he learns to behave.
He's an only child with a neglectful absentee father. He's bored and lonely and desperate for an adventure. Of course he's going to push the flashing green button! I don't blame him.

That said, I suspect Jod will step in as a substitute father figure for Wim ... at least temporarily. They'll no doubt have a falling out when Wim learns that Jod was a pirate and has been using the kids to gain access to At Attin's "eternal treasure", but then they'll reconcile after Jod has a change of heart (which will most likely ultimately lead to his death). Maybe Wim will learn to be less impulsive as a result.

So, Treasure Island then…

Other names used by Jod: Silver, Hook, Sparrow.

If they stick to the template, in the end Jod will escape with the help of the kids. It won't be the first time Star Wars was built around a pre-existing narrative template.

Also, the treasure will turn out to have been aboard the ship all along. Probably moved there by SM-33.

Well old republic is older than High Republic.

Takes of the Jefi/KotoR through to Darth Bane.

Lost colony planet might be older than High Republic.
That's assuming that a bunch of pirates are sticking to the same nomenclature that's been established out-of-universe. They might just as easily be referring to the Republic as a whole as the "old Republic" to differentiate it from the current New Republic.

True interesting wording though.

Yes, exactly. There's a difference between "old Republic credits" and "Old Republic credits" ... but we'd need to see it in writing to know which is correct.

Terms like Old Republic and High Republic are out-of-universe nomenclature. In universe, it was just called "The Galactic Republic". To pirates living in the New Republic, "old" just means "previous".

But why would an out of use currency be so valuable? It's often worthless unless it's made out of some commodity like gold (pieces of eight). Which probably means fungibility is actually important to the plot!
