But it does, at least for some alien species and humans, as there is a human-Twi'lek family in The Bad Batch and they have kids together.
True, and I realised after I'd posted that I'd forgotten about Spectre 7.
It seems unlikely SM33s story is the unvarnished truth, but it’s possible it was the concubine who survived. Fern’s mum is playing everyone? Fern is Rennod’s daughter? Stranger coincidences have happened in Star Wars.

The degraded recording and headless statue suggest that Rennod is someone the audience would recognise though. Jod doesn’t seem old enough.
One idea that kept playing in my head was if Wim's dad was the captain, and his passed-away mother was the concubine. But the dad seems way too not-cool under pressure for that to be the case.

One issue is thinking that all the background events happened at around the same time. I've put together a highly speculative timeline, just as an example of how this might not be the case.

  • Old Republic, 1000 BBY: Nine galactic mints established to provide currency for the Republic. They become known as the Jewels of the Republic. Kh'ymm's map dates from this period.
  • High Republic, 200 BBY: Great Work to create Galactic Central Bank begun in great secrecy.
  • 23 BBY: At Atin becomes isolated from the Republic due to Sith machinations. News of the Great Work leaked to the Banking Clan.
  • Clone Wars, 22 BBY: Eight of the galactic mints destroyed by the Banking Clan.
  • Galactic Civil War, 3 BBY: The Onyx Cinder crash lands on At Atin.
  • New Republic, 9ABY: Skeleton Crew.

Today’s episode felt a little bit like filler but the kids had some good character development.

I was hoping to see Jod use the lightsaber but I guess that will have to wait.

The trash dump being within sight of the leisure spa seemed a bit weird.

I was surprised to see Gunter unscathed since the captions for last week’s episode indicated he was the one screaming after SM-33 reactivated the acid pool.

The extent of KB’s internal cybernetics reminded me of Fennec Shand’s in that it looked a bit “too much”. It felt almost like a big chunk of her brain and the top part of her spine had been removed to make space for the computer parts and wires and such.

The reveal of the Onyx Cinder shedding its armored hull (and some of its engines) was cool. I’m guessing that’s not a feature of the Lego set! 😜

Also, while I like Bryce Dallas Howard’s contributions to Star Wars, I wish Lucasfilm wouldn’t take the “directorial anthology” approach with all their D+ shows. Some of them could definitely due with a more consistent hand at the tiller.

Yeah, finally a bit of character development for KB.

True, but it seemed to be in the back of the spaceport area, maybe it's not overlooked from the public areas.

And very authentically Star Wars style, consistently entirely of parts you'd be able to scavenge in a 1970s electrical repair shop.

The CGI wire-pouring-into-mould bit was far too neat and simple in its execution, forming an entirely too smoothed-off rod perfectly the right size without any excess material, even settling into a neat flat end despite the hole not being perfectly vertical. Felt like a mismatch between what was scripted and the actual prop that was provided during shooting.

On the other hand, now they can sell a whole new set.

At first glance it felt a little too conveniently perfect for the situation, like those oddly-specific gadgets on some Bond vehicles, but on thinking about it, it'd be equally useful for escaping from docking clamps to skip out of a spaceport, or from grapple lines if caught by other pirates.

Or to fully conceal a much more high performance ship, that might have been readily recognizable by authorities. Greeblies for the win.

So, totally out there observation on my part. But did anyone else get Naboo starship vibes from the Onyx Cinder once it shed its outer hull plating? It seemed very shiny and streamlined once the outer "junk" was shed.

I agree that it was a perfect disguise, and why the button was never to be pushed (until it was, Chekov's button in this case). Will the change in outer appearance change anything else for the journey?

Cheers :)

Yup, absolutely Naboo vibes. Almost mentioned it in my last post.

It's got the shiny, but Naboo ships are also defined by smooth blended curves and very few straight lines. This one was all flat panels.

With its vectored aft jets, if anything it has hints of Mandalorian design features.
