Sweet Cover Art?

I'm partial to the work of Erol Otus, so anything that he has done gets my vote. The cover for the Basic set still inspires me.

As far as the modern era of Dungeons & Dragons goes, I have loved every Forgotten Realms cover that has come out for third edition.

I'd have to go with Privateer Press' Monsternomicon with the iron litch ripping through the cover or with Green Ronin's Black Company Campaign Book with WAR's rendition of the Tower at Charm, the Lady, Whisper, et. al. Oooo...

I'm currently putting together "The Art of Dragon: 30 Years of the World's Best Fantasy Art" for Paizo, and I've been looking through the unadulterated transparencies for a lot of the old "classic" Dragon covers. The piece I quoted above is notable because what you see is only a third of the final piece, which is absolutely incredible and is absolutely going in the book.

The one you posted below it and the Daniel Horne piece at the top of the thread are also in there.

Dragon #189 was the second Dragon Magazine I ever bought. The first one was Dragon #190. Dungeon #45 was the first Dungeon Magazine I ever bought.

I'm glad to hear they're all going to get in the book. Those magazine covers are what sold me on starting to collect the magazines, at the time.
