D&D 5E T1: The Village of Hommlet (IC)

Taranis draws his rapier and stabs at the remaining beast. "I prefer Capoferro when slaying beasts. It seems to work best!"

He stabs at the toad [roll0] 13 doing [roll1] 11 damage if hitting.

OOC: They are both still up, sorry if the phrasing wasn't clear. So, does Taranis go after the left toad or the right toad?

OOC: Left side toad has taken 22 damage, right side toad has taken 17 damage.

Taranis' rapier punctures the toad's flesh as well.

With all the commotion in the water, the baby toads now spring out of hiding, four total, two on each side. The smaller ones are still the size of a large dog (compared to the nearly horse sized parents).

OOC: Toad babies initiative - [roll0]

The wounded toad on the left attempts to chomp on Kestrel while the one on the right brings its cavernous maw toward Dur'dan.

Bite vs Kestrel - [roll1] Damage - [roll2] Poison damage - [roll3]

Bite vs Dur'dan - [roll4] Damage - [roll5] Poison damage - [roll6]

OOC: Positioning reminder - Kestrel and Taranis are in the water on the left side of the road and have two baby toads coming toward them, in addiiton to the mama toad. Dur'dan and Meadowlark are in the water on the right side of the road and have daddy toad plus two babies in the water with them. Thain and Thadeous are still on the trail.

Mama misses Kestrel but Dur'dan feels the Daddy toad's mouth wrap around his torso and crunch armor and bone just before he blacks out.

Extra damage from critical hit - [roll0] Extra poison damage from critical hit - [roll1]

OOC: Um...oh dear. For reference - PHB page 196 covers crits. The toad did enough damage to kill Dur'dan outright. :(

Dur'dan falls limp and lifeless in the toad's mouth.

OOC: Thain is up. The baby toads will be joining the initiative order next round.

Thain Thunderthump

Shocked to see his fellow dwarf killed by the monstrous amphibian, Thain shouts in vain, "Nooo! You ugly beast, I'll teach ye!"

With a swing from his warhammer, the dwarf attempts to hit the toad that still holds on to Dur'dan while attempting to block attacks directed at him with his shield.

OOC: So sorry to see one of the PC's die... and the cleric can't do anything about it! So Thain will just attack the bugger and try to kill it in return.
Attack (warhammer): [dice]1d20+4[/dice]
Damage if applicable: [dice]1d8+2[/dice]
Edit: Hmm, that didn't work. InvicibleCastle is down, so let's do this the old-fashioned way, using the WotC dice roller: 1d20+4=19+4=23, 1d8+2=1+2=3

Thain thumps the toad's back with his warhammer.

OOC: Round 2 Initiative

19 - Thadeous
18 - Kestrel
16 - Dur'dan (Killed by Giant Toad)
13 - Meadowlark
12 - Taranis
5 - 2 Giant Toads (22 damage to left Momma Toad, 20 damage to right Daddy Toad; Daddy Toad currently has its mouth full and is considered grappled)
4 - 4 Giant Toad young
2 - Thain

Thadeous, Kestrel, Meadowlark, and Taranis are up!

Kestrel scowled darkly. They were being foolish, scattering their attacks around instead of concentrating on bringing down each one as quickly as possible. But it was too late for them to disengage now.

She spun in a quick arc, slashing at the giant frog before her then using the follow-through to drive her palm at the bone between it's eyes, hoping to finish it!

[roll0] to hit for [roll1] from the sword
[roll2] to hit for [roll3] from the punchymcpuncherton

Meadowlark is standing beside Dur'dan when the creature seizes him in its frightening maw, and she screams when he is suddenly engulfed. She stabs furiously, instinctively, hoping to free her newfound friend from its jaws, but already she sees the slack body being tossed about. And she fears the worst.

to hit: [roll0]; if successful [roll]1d8+3 damage[/roll].
