D&D 5E (2014) Tall's PotA Campaign - IC

The sounds coming from the first door would not be out of place in a dockyard tavern, but you can't make out anything distinct.

GM: The glowing orb is a Driftglobe

For magical items I'll say what they are when you get them, unless there is a plot reason not to, but I'll expect you to identify them as per the rules before you can fully use them. I would just rather avoid too many, "that glowing thing we found 16 pages back" items to track. So in this case, until you take the time or spell to identity that this is, in fact, a drift globe, you can't turn it off or use the daylight ability.

Day 5/Midday
Round 0

Errol follows the others as they move through the undergrowth to the secret entrance. At the stream, he prepares his weapons for getting wet, unstringing the crossbow and his bow and wrapping them and his rapier in oilcloth. He shivers in the cold water and is grateful when they reach the landing.

As the others inspected the glowing orb and listened at the doors, Errol restrung his bows and unwrapped his rapier, readying for trouble. He joined the others on the stairs, listening at the first door and then checking above at the second door to see if either door was locked, but careful not to open either one just yet.

GM: I'd say meta, as it's unlikely that he would know what it is our come across one before. But feel free to try convince me otherwise.

I just don't want to be tracking item a, b, c, etc until you get around to identifying it. I don't see it adding to the game.

"Maybe, but might alert them to our presence.. Let's just go for the quiet one." Ilvellios shivers from the still drying water and looks to Errol.

"Then let's be on our way, the voice in my head is getting louder so I'd like to kill something soon so he shuts up." J.V. says straight faced.
