Teleport vs dimension door in combat.

Question

First Post
DD is well known that the only thing you can do once you exit the DD is to stand there and prepare to get whacked if any enemies are nearby, limiting its tatical usefulness.

Teleport on the other hand seems to imply you still get your available actions if you use teleport to say, drop in next to an enemy wizard.

Am i right?

Of course, your "available actions" are limited by the fact that you just used a Standard Action to Teleport. You've got a Move and maybe a Swift Action left....

Correct; however, remember that it's still under most circumstances a standard action to Teleport, but you could 'port and still make a Move action.

In theory a quickened teleport for a fighter would be insanely valuable. The question is more of how to have the fighter get a quickened teleport :P.

Or you could use the spells from PHB2 and Spell Compendium. I recall there's one 2nd level spell that lets you teleport 10 ft per level. It can be quickened as a 6th level spell. Or, as was the case for my 14th level eldritch knight with arcane thesis, it could be quickened at a 5th level spell. He really enjoyed hopping around the battlefield, and full attacking with arcane strike.

Easy!

Have SOMEONE ELSE cast the teleport!

(My high level cleric did this all the time. Insanely valuable!)
