Thank god for ENWorld

For a very long time, I regularly followed both WoTC and EnWorld... I posted more to WoTC because there were more dumb questions that I was qualified to answer, while on this board the questions were always a bit more complex, and there were more experienced people available to provide answers.

In the past few months I've migrated more and more to EnWorld, simply because the quality of the posts.

At about the time WoTC moved to Gleemax, I finally gave up on WoTC.

Thank you ENWorld and the brilliant posters who provide so many interesting discussions.

I honestly didn't know how the announcement would change things around here, and that was probably kind of scary for some (it was for me!).

Why should it change things, especially for the worse? Sure, there will be people talking about 3e and people talking about 4e, but I doubt that anyone would abandon the place here. No matter what edition, you can have a decent discussion about D&D here.

It's not that no older editions players existed right now, and with 3e's openness, it's far easier to keep playing the new old edition. And of course, there will be lots of 4e players. So I guess no matter what you play, you will find a homeworld here.

No need to feel scary, we're going nowhere. How could we?

In that case, I cast magic missile at the darkness!

In all seriousness, though, this place really is grand. I'm one of the ones a bit hesitant and on the fence about the whole thing, but it's still comfortable here. Kudos to everyone for exercising restraint, and to the mods for a job - continually, not just now - well-done.

Since we don't really have any information at all, I frankly don't care whether the mods choose to smite all threads with negative speculation and favor all those with positive outlooks. At this point, no one has much of anything to say. It doesn't even bother me that much that threads where people can vent thier frustration with those who are skeptical, pessimistic, or simply paranoid are giving mod favor over those where people vent thier frustration with those who are optimistic or niave. Obviously, the positive outcome of doing so is that part of the community is made to feel welcome.

What I do hope is that when we actually have something to talk about other than each other's psychologies, that we are allowed to talk about it.
