And, don't forget it, many thanks to the mods for helpilng keeping it so civil :)
Yep yep yep.

Good mods + decent folks + snarky bastards posters with some self restraint = good boards. :)

Thanks, -- N

Why should it change things, especially for the worse? Sure, there will be people talking about 3e and people talking about 4e, but I doubt that anyone would abandon the place here. No matter what edition, you can have a decent discussion about D&D here.

I thought the wailing and gnashing of teeth would be a lot worse than it has turned out to be. I also feared that many would take it really hard and lug their bitterness around to every thread they could find. There would only be so much of that I could stomach before I just wouldn't find it fun to be here.

For the most part I agree - EN World is a very polite, civil place to be. :)

However, a couple months back when Paizo announced that WotC wasn't renewing their DRAGON and DUNGEON licences, some of what went on here could give that 4e thread on the WotC board a run for its money in the nasty category.

Agreed. The WotC boards are almost intolerable right now. Try being a DDM fan and going to the minis board! Between ENWorld and Hordelings, I am learning much. Thanks to everyone for the news.

I think of that as practice, so we knew how to handle things this time! It caught us off-guard.

Plus, a new edition is a cause for excitement for some (certainly not all, but a significant number). I don't think there was much of a way to "spin positive" on Dungeon and Dragon going bye-bye...
