That Full D&D Renault Commercial Is Here And It Features Tiamat And Venger!

I don't know who owns the IP for the old D&D cartoon characters, but they're using WotC's dragon designs for Tiamat's heads. I wonder if there's any copyright violation going on in this ad?

I also just noticed at the end of the commercial, their real world clothes match the brief glimpses from the beginning of the cartoon - even the right color pants from the half second shot after their ride falls apart!

Yeah, I thought so, too! It's practically like she stepped right off the cover of The Rise of Tiamat.

Tiamat is surprisingly well made.

It hasn't been done by Hollywood directors and scriptwriters yet: the Sweetpea movies were amateur hour.

I think it's a bit of a director's cheat because there are six adventurers, but that car looks like it can only seat five.

Usually I am all for "bigger is better for dragons", but huge Tiamat looks pretty good.

D&D Cartoon has a cult status in Brazil. We had re-runs from late 80's to early 00's - including a time where it had short-lived special program just for it in mid 90's.

Strangely enough, since Brazilian tv tends to cut out openings and credits most of us only learned this cartoon was about an RPG when internet became more popular, in the later part of the 90's.

The marketing company licensed the cartoon, but this isn't the first time something like that was made in Brazil; there was a Wacky Races add a few years ago that is pretty spot on as well.
