The 6 Ability-Score Saving Throw varient

I like Nyaricus' idea; I don't think taking the average modifier is so bad, since there are plenty of other instances where we need to divide something by 2.

If it's really too much of a problem, you could simply add both modifiers to your saving throw and then base save DCs on 12 instead of 10-- or 15 if you want to be evil. (Or you're playing a Gestalt game; damn those saving throws.)

What I am pointing out are the main reasons for having this varient in your game. It helps baslance the usefulness of all stats and the fact that i don't think the average mod is such a bad idea.

Just as a rebuttle for those dissing th rogues need for a high Int, i disagree - anyone i know who's played a 3.x rogue has always gon with skillpoints galore

That is also a good solution. adding both and adding +2 to the DC. Works for me :D
