Dan is surprised by the woman's reaction and clearly blushing somewhat even if he tries to cover it and act tough. Having been a monk for the most part of his life he isn't accustomed to getting attention from ladies - at least not from someone with Leila's class.

"Um, I..., you are..., ah, I mean any decent man would do what I said."

Dan isn't quite sure what to think about Leila. She seems so nice and believable, but he can't avoid recalling the little acting she did back at the Grin, when she saw Farrel badly injured. I wonder, if she really is so innocent as she tells us. I don't know, I hope I'm wrong...

Dan changes the subject to cover his confusion. "So, what's next? Gettin' any good ideas with that ale, Isaac?"

Blithely ignoring all tact, Drehluk locks eyes with Leila and mutters in the tone of one who expects to be answered, "So what gets a daughter of the empire ejected from her station so completely that she must fall in with Hiver scum?" Drehluk seems either ignorant or uncaring of the fact that he has just insulted all his companions and everyone else in earshot to boot.

Isaac wakes up from his reverie. *OOG: I had a virus and couldn't connect to the net*

"Ahh...well... I suppose we could just leave town?"

"Leave town?" Dan gives Isaac a strange look. "Where would we go? I have lived here all my life. This place might not be much, but it's all I've ever known." Dan sighs. "The sun doesn't shine outside the city any better it does here. Besides, I have some unfinished business with the Irregulars and I'm tired of running..." Dan never gets to finish the sentence, when he hears Drehluk's harsh words.

"Give the lady a moment of peace, mister", Dan snaps back at Drehluk with a slightly irritated look on his face. "We don't know your story either, but it seems to me you'll fit in nicely with the rest of us Hiver scum." Dan spits out the last two words like they were poison in his mouth.

Dan's comment seems to pass by Drehluk completely unnoticed, until he mutters half under his breath a few moments later, "Oh, I'm scum all right, just from a different cesspool is all."
