A lot depends on what you mean by "gamer." Roleplaying obviously counts. How about miniature gaming? CCGs? Other card games? Board games?

Mainly someone who plays RPGs.

Not a ton of votes yet, but it's shaping up higher then I thought. I remember I started gaming in junior highschool (summer before 8th grade) when I was about 15... When I went to conventions and played in honnystore games people were around my age, and slightly older... (mainly high school age.)

Maybe I just didn't notice older crowds?

I don't think it is that surprising we got a higher older population. Since we have the poll about, when you started playing D&D and the largest group was 25+. So unless we got time-travelling youngsters everywhere makes sense that in their groups the average gamer in their eyes is older.

I think the most gaming is, on average, done during the University years, so 18-24 it would be.

OTOH, those were precisely the years when I gamed the less (you know, I was too busy then getting drunk and trying to get laid).

It's still interesting. (To me at least, maybe not other people :p)

I mean I remember hearing D&D was popular with college students in the past.

I started gaming (and probabaly gamed the most) when I was around 15, and most people I gamed with (home group, hobby store group, and conventions) were close to my age group.

I didn't game as much in college. (like Betote I was busy partying and trying to get laid... oh yeah and studying too.) I don't even know if there WAS a gaming group in my college... :p

Now from this poll it looks like an even OLDER crowd then college age is the average gamer?

So does the trend go:

College Age, then younger, then out of college age?

I haven't been to any cons or hobby store games lately, so I can't comment on personal experience there...

If that's a true trend what's that saying?
