The Batman

Klaus

For those of you who (like me) hated the new look of the Joker in the "The Batman" cartoon, I give you... The Riddler!

And guess what? He's not obsessed with riddles!

I really hate this new cartoon. I tried to make it work, but the look and feel and storytelling has just been off for too many episodes for me. It's sad when after 60 years of storys yo ucan pull from you start to make your own crap up

He looks a lot like Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails.

And damn, they're coming out with the first three episodes on disk and not a full season? Ugh.

He's described as Marilyn Manson + Bill Gates. Whatever that means...

This does not make me anticipate the new batman any more. What's next we get a penguin whose sort of Jack Black mixed with the DUke.

DonTadow, hate to be the one to break these news to you, but...
In episode 2 the Penguin made his appearance, after savoring the secrets of the Orient (he walks around with two gueisha-like women).

He does a "machinegun kick" on the Batman (a la Mortal Kombat), then whips out an umbrella that turns into a kusari-gama (the handle pops out a blade, and the handle and umbrella are connected by a length of chain). Plus it's electrified.

A few highlights:

- Joker now walks around barefooted. At first he wore a loose straightjacket, but later dons a too-tight suit (still barefoot). Plus his rastafari hair...

- Mr. Freeze is no longer a scientist looking for a way to revert his wife's condition. He is now a bank robber that suffers an accident while fighting the Batman.

- Man-Bat is no longer good-hearted scientist Kirk Langstrom trapped in the savage body of the Man-Bat, but rather "mwa-ha-ha" mad scientist Kirk Langstrom, who wants to imitate Batman and rule the night as Man-Bat! Mwa-ha-ha!!!

The only character handled properly so far was Catwoman, who sticks close to the original and has a costume that looks more like her current one (Darwyn Cooke-designed).

This show's producer is Jeff Matsuda, who did character design for Jackie Chan Adventures and illustrated the manga-style X-Men one-shot.

No, the new Penguin is based on Ozzy Osbourne.

Seriously.

The Penguin's real name has always been Oswald Cobblepot, but in this new cartoon they specifically call him "Ozzy", and he's overly obnoxious and crude.

There are MANY tears being shed right now. I guess I don't understand for the character changes. I saw the manbat and the joker ones and I was disgusted.
