The Centaur

TRAMPLE Centaur racial power
You stamp your hooves down and try to crush a nearby enemy.
Encounter
Standard Action Melee
1
Target:
One enemy
Attack: Strength, Dexterity, or Wisdom vs. Reflex, this is an unarmed weapon attack and benefits from anything that would affect such attacks.
Hit: 1[W] + the chosen ability modifier damage, and the target is knocked prone.

I'd think a Trample is something that would have to be used as a charge/bullrush attack. Standing still and doing this would be more akin to a stomp. Perhaps if you included the clause that it must be made as a charge/bullrush attack, the character could continue moving away from the enemy without triggering OA's from that enemy.

I don't know, the extra space thing seems wonky to me. Navigating one square wide corridors is fine, the penalties attached are for when you're fighting.

I can easily ride a horse around my house, but if I'm trying to do it while spinning and fighting and trying to defend, I'm going to run into problems. The normal large creature rules cover that just fine.

Except that large creatures as pc's have too many advantages which aren't properly countered by the drawbacks. With the way extra space works, it's safe to assume the centaur written as above is a little smaller than the monstrous centaur from the manuals. They're built more in line with adventurers, but they still have to find appropriate places to stand or suffer in combat.

This is why the centaur can't automatically be ridden by his allies, he and his ally both need particular feats to work it out. He can be squeezed into one square, but if he's going to fight without penalty, he needs to have a little bit more (extra) space to navigate; exactly as you stated with your horse in a house example :).

To Keen: The feat is intended to allow the centaur to turn around within his extra space and attack. I realize that doesn't seem so with it as is, and I'll update it with a more appropriate name to help bring that to light.

The whole Extra Space and Mounted are just a waste. Remove them and put them back to Large w/o Reach.
So, let them wield a larger weapon than other races and move 8 squares instead of 7? There's more to large than just reach, and to spell out specifically what they can/cannot do would take as much, or more space. Also, by removing the mounted feature, you get a centaur who can ride huge creatures, even though he should really only be able to fit where a horse can safely.

If you look at the Centaur in the MM2 they do not use Larger weapons. They use normal Medium sized weapons.

And if your DM is stupid enough to allow you to even try and ride another creature as a Centaur then he is getting what he deserves.

Thank you for the input, I'll not be changing this aspect of the race.
