The Center of Time OOC Discussion

One thing to bear in mind too, especially at low tiers, is that your pools are not just what you draw from to use abilities and Effort, they are also your hit points.

So use them carefully. In some cases it's not worth the 'damage' to use Effort. For example, if you have to roll versus Might or take 2 points of Might damage from a poison or something, don't bother spending Effort to aid the roll. You'll lose the Might pool either way (unless there's additional badness that results from the poison, which could be worth the Effort to avoid :)).

doghead - also take a gander through the book and put together a character you'd like to play. I should be able to phase out Xaion and Wisco here shortly and be able to introduce your own explorer of the Ninth World. :) Unless you really like one or the other, in which case, you can tweak them to your liking.

Quite happy playing with other people's toys at the moment. If I break them ... meh.

I will eventually get around to giving the character generation system a run. But don't seem to have enough time at the moment for the things I need to do. Maybe in the new year ...

So if there is no hurry to switch out, I am happy to leave things as they are.

Xaion's blindfold thing is for flavor - it just looks bad-ass. He can see, just not like you and me. :D

Hah. I love level 1 'bad-asses'.

A little worried that my own knowledge was colouring the character's response. But there seemed to be plenty of evidence that the abhumans were not attacking. IC doesn't seem to be up, but I rolled a 4 for Wisco's reading of the situation, and a 14 for Xiaon's. Xiaon is not the brightest, but he is a glaive.

Do abhumans talk? From a quick skim through the book it seems that the term covers quite a range of 'creatures', one of which in particular doesn't. Wasn't sure about these abhumans.

Anyway, I am rambling.

Cheers

fireinthedust - Well, even though Duncan's not a nano, that doesn't mean he can't start asking question or flipping switches. Everyone in the Ninth World fiddles with numenera, even if most only do it on a casual basis. And like you said, you are more overtly numenera than most! Even if Duncan lacks training in Numenera, you can totally give it a crack if there's a panel you want to investigate, buttons you want to push, or abhumans you want to dissect- er discuss things with. ;)

I am interested in joining should an oppurtunity present itself. I have read through parts I & II of the book and am now in part III.
