The Class Compendium articles are great!

I'm not sure about others, but I'm really enjoying the Class Compendium stuff. I suppose the big thing for me is that I don't enjoy going back to apply errata. The updated classes are errata'ed, packaged, and ready to go. This is a great value for me.

I don't really care if the Mage can outgun an Arcanist, or if this class might be better than that class. I do like having what I've already invested in cleaned up, updated and put in a simple to access format.

I've had my complaints about Wotc, but for this I have to give them a big thumbs up. I can't wait to see what stuff from other cancelled books is pushed out via the DDI.

WotC, please keep it coming :)

I hate to make a "me too" post, but I also really enjoyed the cleaned up, errata'd PH1 material we're getting from that book. Particularly in that they're being released for free.

The fact that almost their entire Q1 release schedule got shelved isn't so bad when you think of it in the context that we're now instead getting a good amount of it through DDI or as freebie downloads.

I like everything except the unnecessarily doubled flavor text for powers, which has been an unfortunate trend since Essentials. The waste of space would've been irritating for a paid product, but I guess is more or less irrelevant for a free download.

The themes are very "meh". They range in power from near useless (the beastmaster one), to extremely powerful (Order Adept). They're not very balanced at all.
It's worth notiing that this opinion is far from universal. There were plenty of folks praising them as well.

It's true that mechanically they are not as well-sorted as the Dark Sun themes, and these ones represent a fundamentally different approach in that they are Essentials-compatible and replaced the attack power swaps with theme Features that add a small amount of power creep.

I and several others liked them anyway, even if they could use a little tweaking.

The texts have different purposes. The one before the power box tells you about the power's origin or some other background material. The one inside the box tells you what using the power looks like.

At least, that's how I plan them.

You can tell when Mearls became head designer because he always writes the flavor text twice.

ALWAYS

The Book of Iron Might - Book of Nine Swords - D&D4E under his guidance.

I like Mike's work, but someone needs to tell him that one flavor text block is plenty.
