The Closed Eye, part II (DM: covaithe, Judge: garyh)

"Aw, *****, no," says Hacker, walking forward, "That just ain't gonna work, boys and girl. Woe, you're gonna just bee-bop your twinkletoes back a couple of paces and smash those walking mounds of rotten meat." (Move: to E12. Virtue of Cunning: Slide Woe to F14.)
Woe leaps back just in time, spoiling the zombie’s charge and drawing a fiery trail from his own still smouldering clothes.

“Good call, I’m on it!”

She quickly bites at one zombie, and then the other, trying to cut them down quickly while sending some earthen healing in the general direction of Woe (OOC: Darting bite (without mods) hits zombie one reflex 17 for 11 damage, misses zombie two for 12 damage. Kathalia will use elven accuracy to reroll attack roll on zombie two - that hits reflex 20. If elven accuracy attack hits, Woe spends a surge.
“Thanks, Kath!” Woe responds, as he feels his eye and face heal back completely.

“We’ll have them finished off faster than you can say “questionable oral hygiene” – if you weren’t chewing on decomposed flesh, that is! Now, may I personally recommend to spit, not swallow?”

Woe stops being a wise guy and dashes back into the fray, aiming to get some payback. He leaps from the ground, jumps off the cavern wall to gain altitude, and comes down feet-first on the golem’s chest with a smash, tumbling it over and riding it to the ground.

The spear in his hands explodes into a blur of quick jabs, raining down quick sets of piercing destruction on the overwhelmed flesh monster, before Woe finally flips back off it.

The golem shrieks pain. NOT BORROWED! IS MINE! WHY YOU SO MEAN?" it bellows in an inhuman voice.
“Shut up, stay down, act right, and pray for the time you got left.”

“I don’t care what mismatched body parts you think belong to you, but one thing’s for sure: Your ass is mine.”

[sblock=Actions]
Woe saves via Dissonant Strain power

Standard: Woe charges the golem with Knockdown Assault (marking). On a hit of Fort 26 he deals 5 damage and knocks it prone.
Action Point: Rain of Blows. Invisible Castle went down at this point, probably due to overload of awesome. Woe makes 3 attacks with Combat Advantage (+11), each dealing 1d8+2.

If Knockdown Assault somehow misses, Woe doesn't burn his action point.

Dunamin: Don't forget Woe has a +1 bonus to his damage rolls until our next rest.
I won’t, that stuff works awesomely well with Woe’s new multi-attack encounter powers! (Rain of Blows is 3 separate attacks, while Passing Attack is 2)

Thanks for the save, by the way!

Round 3

Kathalia's form twists and bends in unnatural ways. Her newly elongated jaws lash out, dropping both adjacent zombies to the ground, unmoving. Her hide bristles with menace, causing the golem to shy away. Woe takes heart at the display, recovering some of his strength.

Hacker plays a string of discordant notes on his banjo, further tormenting the poor golem's psyche. The magically enhanced sonic vibrations break up the embers on Woe's clothing and restore him to full consciousness.

Atreus appears out of nowhere, dagger flashing through the air. Once again, it carves away a chunk of mismatched flesh before returning to the rogue's hand.

Woe, finally fully with it, charges the golem, planting his boots in its chest. It falls, but catches Woe alongside the head with a flailing fist as it does so. Woe sees stars again, but somehow manages to pull on his reserves long enough to stab at the heaving mass of flesh again and again.

The golem doesn't stay down long. It pushes back to its feet and goes into a whirling frenzy of destruction, bellowing rage and flailing its three long arms in every direction. It lumbers forward, nearly trampling on Woe, and, making no attempt at defense, lurches all over the cave before coming to a dizzy stop on the other side of Hacker. Its rampage takes a toll; Atreus, Hacker, and Kathalia have all taken solid blows, leaving them reeling.

The remaining zombie, seeing Kathalia's blood pooling beneath her, charges past Woe and attempts to fasten its teeth on her neck. At the last second, it slips in that very same blood, and only gets a mouthful of wet fur.

The goblin hexer has better aim. It quickly forms a curse between its hands, a sickly greenish blob of malice manifested as ectoplasmic goo. It hurls the curse, which lands cleanly on Kathalia's head, sinking into her fur and disappeaering. Immediately her eyes turn white and roll up in her head; she collapses, unmoving. The hexer gestures, and his cloud roils forward a few more squares. He follows it, then stops and looks down. "What's this? Shiny! Master will like!" He picks up Hacker's everburning torch and waves it a few times, sending shadows cavorting around the cave dizzyingly.

[sblock=ooc]Kathalia shifts and hits one zombie and misses the other, but hits with elven accuracy. Woe spends a surge. Kathalia uses screaming hide armor, giving -2 to hit to the golem TENT (Kathalia)

Hacker hits with dissonant strain for 12 damage, and -2 to hit to the golem TENT (hacker). Woe saves. AP for misdirected mark also hits for 15 more damage, and golem is marked by Woe

Atreus hits with deft strike for 16 damage. The golem is bloodied.

Woe hits with Knockdown assault, dealing 5 damage and knocking it prone. The golem makes a counterattack as an immediate reaction, 1d20+10-2-2-2=23 on a natural 17, hits Woe for 1d10+4=8 damage, and Woe is dazed (save ends). :D Only one attack from Rain of Blows hits, for 7 damage. The vexing cloud stops the first one.

The golem stands up and goes on a golem rampage. It goes W, W, NW, NW, S, W, NW, NW, moving through enemies squares, provoking OAs from Atreus, Kathalia, and Hacker. Woe can't make OAs now; he's dazed. Attacks are 1d20+10-2-2 vs. AC, and vs. Woe, Atreus, Kathalia, and Hacker, are: 15, 19, 24, 25. Man, I like this d20! IC should stay down more often! :) Woe is missed (despite CA, which I forgot, so it's really 17) and everyone else is hit. Damage is, to A, K, H: 7, 13, 11, respectively, and they're all dazed (save ends). (I forgot when I did this that it was marked by Woe, which gives another -2 to all those attacks that aren't against Woe. Luckily, they all hit anyway.)

Zombie 3 charges Kathalia, 1d20+7+1=11 vs. AC, misses. Aww...

The hexer sustains the cloud and moves it to be centered on F14, so all PCs are in it, as well as the golem and the remaining zombie. It fails to recharge stinging hex (1d6=4), and uses blinding hex on Kathalia, 1d20+7 vs Fort hits with an 18. Whoops, forgot CA from dazed, that's 20. Damage is 2d6+1=5, dropping her to -1. She's dying and blinded (save ends). The hexer moves forward and picks up Hacker's torch.

Still need OAs from Hacker, Kathalia, and Atreus.

"What's this? Shiny! Master will like!"
"I doubt that, you congenital moron, because then he'll be able to see your ugly-***** face. Let me guess: Your mother is simultaneously a near and distant relative? Stupid ***** goblin hack."

"Oh, and Kathalia, wake your happy ***** up, girl! We've got fightin' to do!"

Minor Action: Majestic Word on Kathalia, healing 13 HP and sliding her to G12.

Kathalia tries to sink her teeth into the golem's flesh, but she manages nothing more than a superficial scratch mark (Opp attack misses). After being laid low by the hexer and revived by Hacker, she instinctively returns to human form (OOC: Wild shape - back to human form and stay where Hacker slid her).

(Save vs blinded fails - using amulet daily power - succeeds. Save vs dazed fails. Have I mentioned how much I hate the dazed condition? At least Kathalia can use her healing word next turn on somebody. If she's still alive...)

The Golem bashes his way through their line and as it does so, Atreus strikes true with his dagger but only inflicts minor injuries; Hits AC 22 and does 4 damage, almost embarrassing)

Battered by the Golem's massive arms Atreus eyes flickers to the goblin. Immediately he notices that the Goblin is alone and within his, and Woe's reach " Woe, look who is free " and he stiffly readies to throw his dagger " The Goblin"
[sblock=Actions]
Standard: Readies to attack the goblin with "Sly Flourish" after Woe has attacked the goblin. Hit AC 25 and does 11 damage, and if sneak attack applies he does 20 damage
Saving Throw vs daze: 16 - YaY!
Tactics: Dunamin, I got Idea. Could you charge the goblin with Knock Down Assault, then I might get sneak attack damage applied, and the nasty gnome won't be able to use his foul ranged attacks. Il help Hacker and Kathalia take care of the golem next round if you keep the goblin busy ;).

As the golem tramples over him to smash into the entire group, Woe looks up and is instantly shocked.

“Sick bastards,” he mumbles while twisting out of the way. “Why would they stitch five and a half pairs of testicles on it!? And what’s that head doing down here!!?”

He follows it, then stops and looks down. "What's this? Shiny! Master will like!" He picks up Hacker's everburning torch and waves it a few times, sending shadows cavorting around the cave dizzyingly.
Woe’s spear flares up with dancing sparks as he levels it at the hexer.

“You like the shiny, Gob-Job? Then you’ll love this. We’ll make sure to fit a few dozen shinies in you, as well. Somewhere, somehow.”

Battered by the Golem's massive arms Atreus eyes flickers to the goblin. Immediately he notices that the Goblin is alone and within his, and Woe's reach " Woe, look who is free " and he stiffly readies to throw his dagger " The Goblin"
“I’ll be freeing it from a few limbs, alright. Ain’t no liberation like putting a zealous sucker out of its misery.”

The warrior leaps in and rams his knee into the goblin’s face, hammering it to the ground with a couple of broken teeth down its throat.

Since the golem dazed Woe before the end of his last turn, he makes a save at the end of that turn and fails.

Standard: Woe charges the hexer with Knockdown Assault (marking). On a hit of Fort 19 he deals 5 damage and knocks it prone.

At the end of this turn, Woe makes a save and fails again.
