The Deadliest Archer of Them All

How are you sneak attacking the dragon again?

By winning initiative. Nothing in the Blindsight ability states the creature never loses its Dex bonus. Regardless, SA isn't necessary anyway. Against an adult red dragon, a Peerless Archer who cranks +7 into Power Shot hits just as often as the cleric, and does more damage.

As I said, please build an example character, where is the 124 damage coming from? This will allow us to see if it is due to feats, class abilities, stats, or a combination of the above that is providing this butt-whuppin. :)

And while catching a dragon flatfooted is not impossible, it is unlikely given his detection abilities. :) He is not going to wait for you to get within 30 feet of him to unleash hell on you. :D

You might win init when you see him at 260 feet away, but when he hastes, goes invisible, and you start to sweat, you no longer have him flatfooted. :)

Totally aside from the cleric vs. pa contest right now, here's some fun stuff...

This is a fun feat for archers and other dexterity fighters that deserves more exposure.

Actually, it's not that good of a feat. Its PA for Dex instead of Str. Sure, you must use Dex to attack to get it, but replacing Dex for Str is not a good idea. It sort of defeats the purpose of PA by opening it up for peopel with low Str. Just my opinion, and of course your mileage may vary. :D

I already did. Its this guy, posted earlier in the thread:

"With a non-magical mighty+4 composite longbow, a Peerless Archer can do (1d8 arrow,+4 mighty,+5 arrow enhancement,+2 weapon specialization, +1 Point blank shot+20 Power Shot)x3 Critical=120+4d6 Sneak Attack=144 points of damage WITH ONE SHOT. Throw in a +5 bow with burst or bane effects and he becomes deadlier still."

So I should have said 120 points of damage without SA, not 124. My mistake.

OH! I thought you meant he did 120 damage per arrow. He does 120 per crit.

Do PA's get anything special on their crits or is it mainly just the natural x3 of the arrow?

Right. With one arrow. :)

Standard x3. Gotta let those Deepwood Snipers have something to be proud of. :D

Depending on the levels you give him, you can probaly do fighter 8/deepwood sniper2/peerless archer 10. THe deepwood sniper abilities would give you keen for every arrow fired and increase your crit mutiplier to x4 (from x3).

Work 4 levels of Ranger in there and you've got access to a neat little spell called Hunter's Mercy....

Ya, so you'd have Fighter4/Ranger4/Deepwoodsniper2/Peerless Archer 10

Actually, I'd do it a little differently. THe sneak attack is tough to get, so I wouldn't worry about it. I'd take Peerless Archer to third level for the Powershot ability. Deepwoodsniper I'd take to 10th to get the keen arrows, the crit increased to x5, and true strike once a day. Then Ranger to level 5 (for the Hunter's Mercy spell and Favored enemy Dragon). And then 2 levels of Fighter.

This way you don't have to worry about getting in close for the shot (actually with deepwoodsniper you can fire from 375ft with no range penalty (110 base+ 55 farshot+100 deepwoodsniper ability+110 distance bow)). Use Hunter's Mercy (turns any hit into a crit) and true strike. Miss dragon on a nat one, don't confirm crit on nat one (so 90.25% chance of a critical). That would be 1d8 +4 (mighty bow) +5 (magicaarrow) +5 (Magicbow) +20 (Powershot), so 35-42 damage. Then x5 or minimium 175, max 210.

How's that look? I need to bathe, I feel dirty now :(
