LOL, just realized that we had forgotten to make him immune to fire… :p

OK, let’s see… first thing I noticed, I don’t think I want to make such a big deal about the extraplanar stuff – I was thinking that ought to be more of an enigma, since the original material doesn’t provide a lot of solid info on that anyway. Also, I think we need to shorten up on the specifics of the hatching and reproductive cycle a bit – I know that you, me, and a million other fellows out there who were familiar with 2E love the whole inclusion of the ecology stuff, but it just seems out of use these days.

So, unless I’m off base for saying it, I think those first three paragraphs can be smooshed into one. If I’m cutting out anything you figure is essential, let me know.

(hmm, too many “althoughs” at the beginning of paragraphs) ;)

This creature stands over two stories tall, tethered to the cavern walls by a dozen long, rocklike appendages. Its wide clamlike body consists of two shells, with dozens of eyestalks and other sensory organs peering through the gap between these shells. A pair of reptilian claws protrudes from its front, and four large dorsal tentacles stretch out from its back. Several dozen tendrils trail beneath, each seemingly endless in length.

The draknor is the larval form of an extraplanar monstrosity of unbelievable power. For reasons that remain an enigma, drankor eggs are deposited on the Material Plane, deep underground in secluded caverns near sources of great heat. When these eggs have incubated for a year, the larval draknor hatches and feeds on the source of heat until it reaches maturity, when it migrates back to the elemental planes. Adult draknors are never encountered on the Material plane, and no encounter with one on the elemental planes has yet been documented.

Although it subsists solely on heat, a draknor can consume and digest nearly any substance. This fact, and its preferred habitat, make it a particular threat to illithids and other Underdark races. The draknor's immunity to mind-affecting abilities and mind blast attacks renders illithids nearly powerless against them.

Although draknor are highly intelligent, their thought processes are totally alien. They cannot (or choose not to) communicate with other creatures.

A larval draknor is 55 feet wide, 40 feet long, and about 25 feet high, and weighs X tons.

Combat
Although still in its larval phase, a draknor is a behemoth on the Material Plane, and a terror in combat. Draknors are usually hunted down and destroyed as soon as their presence is discovered. A draknor is intelligent enough to coordinate its many attacks between several different foes, and usea its tendrils to cause an earthquake before any creatures even get near its body.

It didn't look quite as bad when there was another paragraph in between. ;)

Change this: "Although it subsists solely on heat, "

to this: "While it subsists solely on heat, "

This should solve the too many "althoughs" issue. :)

The updated text should suffice. I just used the stats for dragon eggs from Draconomicon for its egg's stats, so I'm sure like-minded DMs would do the same if they needed it.

But then, the problem is, if we make him immune to fire, does that make him unable to heal from it?

good. we'll keep it then. :) how about this part though: "Anything that would deal fire damage to a draknor instead heals 1 point of damage for each point of damage it would otherwise deal."

Modifying from various golems:

Healing Flames (Su): Any attack that deals fire damage heals a draknor for 1 point of damage for every 3 points of damage the attack would otherwise deal. If the amount of healing would cause the draknor to exceed its full normal hit points, it gains any excess as temporary hit points.

You can modify it however you want, making it 1 for 1 like the original creature. Also, might want to skip the temporary hp bit, and just say it can't exceed its max hp.

yeah…. I guess so. How’s this now?

Healing Flames (Su): Any attack that deals fire damage heals a draknor for 1 point of damage for each point of damage the attack would otherwise deal. A draknor cannot exceed its full normal hit points as a result of this healing. A draknor gets no saving throw against fire effects.
