The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

OOC: [SBLOCK]So, sounds like a full round action, ending the round with both weapons in one hand? Next round a free action to get one weapon back in each hand? I'll take it. For flavor, I'm going to have Nars grab his dagger in his teeth, but since I didn't think of that before Nars is still not threatening an area. Sorry to the group for all of Nars wasted rounds so far. First he wanted to stay invisible and get close enough, but didn't want to be too far in front of the group. He really doesn't want to close without someone flanking. I should have had him keep shooting his crossbow until someone else was in melee and then close.[/SBLOCK]

Nars thinks, We should have drawn it out of the rubble. Who could have guessed the footing would prove so treacherous. Nars places his dagger between his teeth and shrugs off his quiver. He tosses it near Persephone's prone form, hoping that Ishmael will heal her soon. Hopefully the Redcap will be too busy with other things to sling any shots at him. He also takes a five foot step to I20 if possible.

Here's the pertinent rule:

OOC: *shrug* It's better than laying prone in the rubble and getting pelted with sling bullets. Besides, it seems like something Gorefoot would do in a rage. :D

Edit: Make no mistake, I've got no illusions as to how long Gorefoot will last in melee with that thing, but he's doing no one any good just lying there. It's speedbump time. ;)

Edit: That Redcap's doing 1d6+7 with his sling? Now I've really got no illusions about how long poor Gorefoot will last. Perhaps we were supposed to talk to him? :)

Edit: Just so it's clear, Gorefoot is crawling 10ft. forward. Either the Redcap's gotta stop machinegunning his friends and take a 5' step to carve him up, or he's going to get a kukri in the knee next round. :p

OOG: The short version: Standing up and jumping two squares to G26. As part of his movement, Ishmael draws his CLW wand from his belt.

Jumping back to Percy (DC15 or DC10) (1d20+10=30, 1d20+10=15)

The long version:

"No!" cries the Halfling as the bullet sails over his head. His face, stained with dust and blood, turns just in time to see the missile smash through the Sorceress' defenses and drop her to the ground. "Percy!"

Ishmael's mind races as he picks himself up for what seemed to be the hundredth time. He spares a glance at both sides, spying the slight breathing of the Sorceress in one half second and Gorefoot's desperate (yet bloodthirsty) crawl with the other.

What should I do?

His concern over the welfare of his friends dwarfs Ishmael's anger.

Who should I help? Gorefoot appears to be in dire straits. The Redcap's scythe looks menacingly sharp from this far, what more against a reckless, prone berserker like Gorefoot wielding a kukri?

Alas! Master Mazan never told me what to do in this situation!

A whole second passes while Ishmael spares Persephone a furtive glance. He looks at the Redcap and sees that two of his companions were getting close enough to help Gorefoot. His decision arrives at his feet then.

Only I can help Persephone now! he thinks as he tries to leap to her, unsure of whether she's close to death or not and unwilling to take that chance. His leaps are free of missteps and he lands right beside her. A wand charged with healing magick is in his right hand and his enhanced glaive's mid-haft is in his left.

OOG: What kind of action is it to move Someone from one square to another? Ishmael has 14 Strength but is Small. Also, Ishmael wants to provide her with cover vs. future slingshots.

Round 6 Concludes

Initiative
Redcap (40 damage)
Nars
Gorefoot (12 damage)
Rodimus
Persephone (-2 hp)
Ishmael

Ishmael jumps back to Persephone, readying his wand and interposing himself betweeen her and further blows.

ooc: It would be a move action to pick Persephone up, if you can lift her. You'll need to calculate your encumbrance as if you were carrying all of your equipment, all of her equipment, and her body weight. Possibly simpler to heal her and let her scramble for cover on her own?

As you are intentionally providing cover, she will gain the apropriate benefit to AC. However, if a "striking the cover" situation comes up (only if someone attacks Persephone and misses due to the cover benefit to AC) I may impose some sort of penalty on resolving whether or not you are hit by the shot. Have to look up those rules if it comes up.

Round 7 Begins
Seeing Rodimus coming toward him from atop the wall, the Redcap fires a sling bullet at him. His aim is precise, and even though Rodimus gains the benefit of both cover and concealment from his position, he is hit for d6+7=13 points of damage. Rodimus, with viperlike speed, slaps the slingstone out of the air and is unharmed.

(Nars goes here.)

Gorefoot crawls from G23 to G21, frothing at the mouth in rage as his friends are injured and shouting imprecations at the murderous fey.

oog: Would Rodimus' deflect arrows ability work against the sling bullet?
oog2: I'll willingly take damage for providing cover. It's the Paladin thing to do :)
oog3: My action (short version): Ishmael will spend a charge from his wand to heal Percy of (1d8+1=9)damage. Afterward, he will use his move action to holster the magic item. He's still providing cover for Percy.

The long version:

Ishmael forces himself to ignore the sound of the whizzing bullet and the pain upon his forehead. He focuses on Percy's prone form, alighting the end of the wand upon one of her nastier bruises.

"Curare Sut!"
* he intones firmly, ordering positive energy out of the wand and channeling it into Persephone's petite frame. Soft white light suffuses the Sorceress' form. Her worst bruises fade and her deeper cuts mend though the bloodstains remain.

*Celestial for
"Be Healed!"

Ishmael's heart leaps for joy when he realizes that he is not too late. The Halfling stills his beating heart however, as Percy's eyes open again to a chaotic battlefield.

"The battle is not over yet and the Redcap still stands," He informs her, in case her wounds had knocked some sense from her. "Take shelter, Percy. I shall cover thine retreat before leaping into the fray"

The Knight of the Wooden Sword turns back to the fight at hand and tucks the Wand of Healing back into his belt. Piercing blue eyes watch the Redcap closely. Ishmael intends to block any bullet hurled at Percy, with his own body if need be.

Percy

"Percy's eyes blink, and she is comforted by the sight of the indomidable little halfling. "Don't sheild me; I'll hide in my own way. 'bye!"

In the blink of an eye, Percy winks out of sight.

OOC: cast invisibility

She then puts her hand on Ishmael's forearm. "I could use another charge of that wand, though, sweetie."

Nars sees Gorefoot and Rodimus closing the distance to the Redcap. "Now or never," he says in a low growl. He steps forward toward the redcap (H19). He attempts to sweep the redcap's legs from beneath him, but is unable to pull the redcap from his feat, and then stabs at the Redcap with his dagger.
OOC:
Hopefully the Redcap is size small.
sickle touch attack (1d20+1=11) for trip
Trip strength check (1d20+2=3)
Note, if the 11 his (which I doubt) then the Redcap has a counter trip chance. Nars is +8 on this check and will drop the sickle if he fails.
dagger attack (1d20+1=14) Probably a miss. Darn, I should have fought defensively, but I didn't think of it until after I rolled. Oh well.

Accidently deleted this. Thought I hit quote, looks like I hit edit. Feeling very dumb! Sorry.

I'll try to reconstruct it later using the records at invisible castle.

Edit: Round 7 Reconstructed

Nars, in attempting to trip the Redcap, loses his sickle. He misses with his dagger.

Rodimus leaps onto the Redcap from above, succesfully initiating a grapple.

Persephone fails to stabilize, dropping to -3.

Ishmael heals Persephone for 9.

Round 8 Begins
The Redcap breaks free, dropping his sling and wielding his Scythe. He steps 5' back.
