The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

Ishmael waited his turn to speak to Rilthorne lest the old mage be overwhelmed by questions. When his turn came, he quiried the wizard regarding the state of the magick weapon's creation as well as where he could recieve it. If it wasn't too late or too much trouble, the halfling would ask if the glaive's blade could be of cold iron instead of steel.

'Fairblood.. Fairblood.. why does it sound so familiar?'
Morulas mutters, striding up and down in Rilithornes vestibule.

'Never have I studied the heraldy or genealogy of human knights and nobles, but this name has a different meaning I feel.'
Massaging his forehead with one hand, the elf seems uncommonly unsettled.

'It hope once we've left this town of man, I'll be able to find an untroubled and invigorating trance again.'

[edit]

Alright, I'm off to the snowy slopes now and therefore unable to post until January 5th most likely. Take over the elf if you need to, happy gaming in either case.

happy holidays everyone

Gorefoot - Gnome Barbarian 2

Gorefoot shadows Persephone where ever she chooses to go. When they arrive at Rilithorne's, he gives the slightest nod of acknowledgement to the wizard before fixing his narrowed eyes on the butler-puppet in the foyer. He appears to be exercising considerable restraint as he runs his fingers over the hilt of his greatsword. "I hate that thing." he mutters quietly under his breath.

Nars remains silent for the moment, lost in thought. It's like a puzzle. If I just had more information on those murder victims, and possibly on Tarbain Fairblood, then its just a matter of looking at it the right way. He is also curious about what Rilthorne knows about fighting fey in general and Redcaps in particular, but will wait to see how Rilthorne answers Persephone's questions before asking any of his own.

Rilithorne's reply

"Fairblood? Sounds familiar. Wasn't there some sort of Druid or something by that name? I have only made a basic study of the Fey, but I believe the last serious trouble between the Fey and the races of men were about two hundred years ago. The trouble was eventually settled when the Druids negotiated a peace between the two sides. Men agreed to stay clear of the Faerie Woods, and abandoned those settlements in the woods allready established. The Druids bound the more obnoxious fey within the woods, so that they couldn't come out and trouble any of the races of man.

"There are some dangerous creatures in those woods, apparently. Most simply stay clear, but rumor has it those wandering in face spells of befudlement and glamour. While the wood is quite small, it doesn't seem that way when you are travelling in it.

"As to the state of the magic weapons I promised you, I sent out a message immediately and they should be well underway. I'm afraid my friend doesn't work in cold iron, it's deucedly hard to enchant and he lives close enough to the faerie woods that it might... irritate his neighbors if he had much of it about."

Percy

"Gosh. That was very helpful Rilithorne. Thanks very much. We'll keep looking."

Percy is ready to go, but pauses to see if any of her companions want to inquire further. As she waits she smiles and waves at the little puppet.

The Deep Halfling politely thanked the old wizard for his information. He would have to make do with what he had, Ishmael decided.

"Men are not allowed within the boundaries of the woods... Would our party be in violation of the peace if we tracked the jewelry thieving fey into the woods?" asked Ishmael. He looked at the party. "I see no men amongst us, however."

"When the fey refer to 'the races of man' they include all the common humanoids, regardless of gender. Fortunately, however, I believe the activities they preclude from their woods are primarilly the establishment of residences, logging activity, or anything they see as 'defiling' the countryside. Unfortunately, they can be a bit vague on what they mean by this last bit. Oh, and they don't like Cold Iron or people that carry it, either."

Percy

"OK. Well, let's keep moving. We have two leads to follow up on. One is the murders. The other is the history of this Tarbain Fairblood character. Some of us should consult Watch Captain Frandeth on the murder. The others should do what they can on Tarbain Fairblood, which is really the more important one. I would think Joe might have some tips."

"Personally, I think I might have better luck with Captain Frandeth. I can sometimes get men to talk to me, if you know what I mean. I think we should split up, and meet back here in a couple hours."

Percy kneels next to Gorefoot. "Gorefoot, would you be so kind as to accompany me to see the watch captain? I'd feel much more comfortable with someone as dangerous as you by my side."

Nars says, "I will, ah, go where I'm needed. I'd, er, like to examine the murder scenes if possible as I don't know much about royalty. Also, there must be a pattern to the victims."

He will exchange his dagger for a cold iron dagger (net cost 3 gp) when given the opportunity. He will try to hide it on his body (since Rilthorne says the fey don't like cold iron) so it will be a standard action to retrieve it.
