The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

"Sorry." Nars replies to Gorefoot.
"I can, ah, go scout again to, er, find it and see if its h-hurt. If not, perhaps we should, ah, retreat and get the, er, sword reforged instead."

If this plan is approved, Nars will wait for Percy to cast invisibility on him and then quickly look around for the redcap. He will note the terrain around it (overhanging cliffs, etc) and whether it appears to be suffering from its wounds. He wants to save enough time to start the fight invisible and throwing a flask of alchemist fire, but wants the others to be in position before he does.

'Tis the Halfling predelictio- err, tendency and talent at throwing things, Gorefoot. I hath only these two Cold Iron Darts and these flasks of Alchemist's Fire to cast at the Redcap. Hath thee any oil flasks ignite upon the Redcap's hide? If not, I shall give thee these darts.

Ishmael agrees with Nars' plan and wishes him luck. He turns to the rest of the party. Methinks that when battle arriveth, I shall have to be the one to attract the scythe to mine shield. I am uncertain of how long I shall last or how long he shall be preoccupied with me, however.

What shall the rest of thee be doing?

Ishmael fastens the buckles of his heavily scarred Kite shield upon his left arm.

"Hmm. I don't have any flasks of oil, so I'll take the darts."

"I figure I'll toss these two darts, and then cut him up with my kukri. That didn't work out so well last time, so I'm open to suggestions."

"I'll start with a flask of this *touches his flask of alchemist's fire*. I can, er, shoot my crossbow then, but the, er, footing here is probably better so it will be better able to, ah, dodge my attacks (OOC: no sneak attack on ranged shots). If'n I can, ah, get in close, I'll be able stab it in its more, ah, vulnerable spots."

OOC: Patlin [SBLOCK]I'd like to suggest to the group that if the redcap is uninjured, we fall back to the closest town with a magic shop and pick up a couple scrolls of Enlarge, Ray of Enfeeblement, and Grease (to make the touch attack easier) so that Rodimus can actually grapple the thing. Nars has never seen any of these spells so has no knowledge of them so I can't really propose this in game. Should I just bite my tongue? The good roleplayer in me says yes, but I really don't want to lose to this thing again so I'm leaving this up to you.[/SBLOCK]

Note re roleplaying: When I am playing, I assume that my character lives in a magical world and has at least some knowledge of the resources available to him. Remember, all of the items you are considering purchasing in the spoiler block above are for sale in many places much smaller than Orussus. It's entirely up to you to decide that your character has never window-shopped and finds anything magical new and amazing, and I absolutely respect that decision. If, however, you want your character to say "I think we should get a scroll of <whatever.>" You are absolutely allowed to say that as long as I am the DM.

Obviously, this is a matter of style. Do what feels right to you.

"If I, ah, find the redcap is not injured, er, seriously, I'd say we, ah, fall back, reforge the sword, and get some scrolls to make Rodimus, er, bigger and stronger, and to, ah, weaken the, er, redcap."

OOC: [SBLOCK]With Enlarge and Bulls Strength, Rodimus would have a +16 grapple modifier. Nars with a second cold iron dagger could really dish out some damage to a grappled redcap and even if the redcap has a +16 grapple, Rodimus should win 50%. A Ray of Enfeeblement would improve his chances even further. A CL 1 grease spell would make it flatfooted for a round making it easy to hit with the ray of enfeeblement, and while its flatfooted, Nars could toss on two alchemist fires with sneak attack. A CL2 ray of enfeeblement and CL2 Enlarge would make this strategy cost only 125gp over what we have already spent.[/SBLOCK]

Good idea Ishmael nods at Nars' advice. T'was only a matter of luck and great cost that we defeated him earlier

The Deep Halfling turns to look at the foilage that covers the Crystal Gardens. He focuses, using his Divine Inquisition ability to see if the Redcap is close by (assuming the cover is not sufficient to block the emanation).

Percy

OOC: Percy would have wanted to buy 10 cold iron bolts, if the opportunity arose, as it seems to have done.

"Well, since we're here, we may as well scout it out. I'll cast invisibility on you Nars. But I don't want to fight this thing again yet. We need an edge we didn't have last time. I want to get that sword reforged. If you can snag the necklace or if he's clearly wounded, we can attack, otherwise, let's get out of here."

Nars begins his scouting, moving quietly through the trees between them and the garden. He does his best to find the redcap without warning it to their presence.

OOC: Take 10 (if possible) on Hide = 7 + 20(invisible) = +27 and Move Silently = +7. Spot +6 Listen +4.,
