The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

OOC: Thanks. I'll add the cold iron bolts to her CS. Fasroth never answered her question about her inability to eat normal food. I'll assume he doesn't know any cure.

IC: As Nars disapears and heads into the crystal gardens, Percy loads up one of her new bolts in her crossbow.

Sneaking into the crystal gardens, Nars sees an unusual sight. The Redcap is indeed present, and seems to be bowing and scraping before a pair of pristine white Unicorns, which hold themselves with noble dignity as the evil fey whines and wheedles before them. From this distance, Nars has difficulty telling exactly what they are saying, or whether the Redcap is still wounded.

(Ishmael could not sense anything due to distance. Fasroth new nothing of breaking the curse, but suggested that relatively standard magical cures might work and should be tried before anything too exotic. Oh, and Persephone has indeed made Nars invisible. Let me know if I missed anything!)

Nars begins scouting as per post above.

Undisuaded by the presence of the two Unicorns, Nars creeps forward. Closer now, he can hear some of the Redcap's whining.

"Truly, great ones... harmed... violent..."

The Redcap's clothes are sliced and bloody, but you'll need to get closer if you want to hear more or reliably determine how wounded it is.

OOC: I missed the first post about the unicorns, but seeing it I would have said the same things.

IC: Nars continues to creap forward hoping to discover the extent of the redcap's injuries.

As he creeps closer, Nars can hear more.

"Can any fey be safe while these vile mortals stalk our woods, hunting us for sport? They may even be so low as to attack noble forest creatures such as yourselves! Surely, we must all band together to face this threat, lest our monstrous foes slay us one by one!"

He can also see that the Redcap looks spry and unwounded. He may have recently benefitted fro some sort of magical healing. No sooner has he concluded this, though, when he steps on a dry branch, which snaps with a loud *crack!*

The Redcap whirls at the sound, pointing in your general direction.

"There! Guard yourselves, the fiends are upon us!"

The unicorns turn toward the noise advancing with their horns down, clearly prepared to defend themselves and their "ally" from this intrusion. As soon as their backs are turned, the Redcaps features distort into a snear. Reaching to his neck in a now familliar gesture, he begins to activate the necklace.

Nars bites his tongue to hold in the curse forming on his lips. Knowing he would have no chance of explaining himself to the unicorns, he moves back to the rest of the group as quietly as possible.

If the unicorns start charging toward where the group is hidden, he'll yell out, "The redcap tricked these unicorns! Watch out!"

If he gets back without incident, he will whisper, "We should, ah, leave. The redcap c-convinced these unicorns that, er, we attacked it unprovoked."

With help from Persephone's invisibility spell, Nars manages to get back to the party substantially ahead of the angry Unicorns, who are moving forward slowly looking for the unseen threat.

Percy

"What?! Unicorns! I've always wanted to meet a unicorn. Aren't they good creatures? If the redcap has recruited them, then having a fey bane sword won't help. Let's talk to them. Aeric, Fjorn, you can vouch for us, can't you? We're only after the redcap, and we have the fey lord's permission to be here on that quest. The rest of you can back away, but I will meet these unicorns." Percy fusses a bit with her hair in an attempt to look more presentable. She slings her quiver of cold iron bolts onto her horse and let's the horse move away.
