The Faerie Woods [Knight Otu Judging]

2) I had assumed that we're waiting for the Unicorns to come to us. But Ishmael will follow Percy's lead.

Well, let me clarify my concern. If you stand just on the wooded side of the thick foliage seperating the clearing from the rest of the Faerie Wood, the encounter distance will likely be extremely short. Do you want that to happen, or will you step into view of the Unicorns while they are still a significant distance away?

OOG: I think it's in our best interest to see the Unicorns while they are still faraway. We will step into the clearing (unless Manzanita objects).

Persephone and Ishmael step into the clearing, carefully trying to appear non-aggressive. The Unicorns, seeing them, flare their nostrils and seem about to charge. Strangely, they hesitate for a moment, perhaps to allow you a moment to speak.

Indeed, fair creatures of the Wild. I am Ishmael of the Wooden Sword and this is mine friend, Persephone. We mean no harm to thee or thine.

Diplomacy +8, Sense Motive +4

The Deep Halfling looks at the Unicorns, trying to determine their trustworthyness and their general mood.

Ishmael raises his hands and shows his palms to show that he is helpless and unarmed. He knows little about Unicorns except that they are probably intelligent, very elusive and most likely powerful. If push came to shove, he would not want Percy to be alone in a confrontation with these creatures.

"Peace? If you come in peace, why does a little Faerie creature proceed you, bearing dire wounds? Your peace seems stained with blood."

In spite of the challenging words, the Unicorns seem reluctant to attack.

Percy gestures angrily. "That 'little faery' is a redcap. A mass murderer, possessing a stolen necklace prized by your lord, and the blood of many innocents on his hands. We have come to recover the necklace and end his reign of killing!"

Percy takes a deep breath and continues. "I am Esmerelda Persephone Jara, princess of Monemvassia. This is my companion, Sir Ishmael of the order of the Wooden Sword. Please accept our appologies for entering your woods unbidden by you, but our mission is most important."

"See, I told you the little Faerie wasn't being totally truthfull with us." Says the Unicorn on the Right. "Where did he get to, anyway?"

"Hmph. I didn't trust him either, but he had suffered many injuries." Directing his attention back to you, the Unicorn on the left continues. "The Lord of the Fey is our neighbor, not our lord. No creature has dominion over the Unicorns. If you serve him, we will respect your right of safe passage, but harm none that are not your rightfull prey."

Somewhat spoiling this stern speech, the Unicorn on the Right asks "Are you really a princess? I've always wanted to meet a princess!"

"Ah." Percy nods approvingly. "That little runt couldn't really fool a unicorn, could he? I knew it would be OK. I've heard so many wonderful things about unicorns, ever since I was little."

Percy curtsies. "Yes, I am a princess. Oh, not a rich one. Not anymore. I'm off on my own now, I'm afraid." She sighs and purses her lips. Then perks back up. "Don't worry. We mean no harm to anyone except that redcap. I'm glad he came here, anyway. I've always wanted to meet a unicorn. You are both so beautiful. What are your names?"

OOC: Althought this may seem like a bluff of sorts, it isn't. It's just Percy's real personality, shining through!
