The Funeral (Stonegood judging) [finished]

"Hunting is about blending in. There are plenty of places to hide, look like you're working, selling stuff, or anything else there. We should be able to lurk around and blend in with the workers very well."

"And sister makes a good point. Breland is the lesser evil, if we're forced down that path."

ooc: I'm not at home, so I have internet access, but not to my files and adventures. I'm watching the thread so I can post tomorrow or so; meanwhile, Manzanita is right - four armed individuals stick out of the crowd, and both the adventurers and House Cannith have seen you.

"So we have two lightly armored human fighters," says Raven, indicating Nicollo and herself, "and two shifters. And we might have to be here for hours. Since this is a busy dock, it seems unlikely we wouldn't attract attention no matter where we go. We could try to rent a small boat & float it. But that could slow our ability to get on land when the time comes. It's also quite likely that one or both of the other groups will send a scout ahead. If we knew where the others were coming from that would help, but so be it. Orerreth, are you staying with us? You can cast spells, can you not?"

"Perhaps our best bet is for me to go out there alone and try to rent a boat or a hut. If I can case the joint and find a place for us to hide for a few hours, that would be a good start. I ususally wear all black. If I swap my cloak for one of yours and leave my sheild, I'll be much less distinctive looking."

Niccolo - male human swashbuckler

"If we could find a place in a building nearby, we could take turns waiting out here watching for them, I guess. I'm not really sure I could disguise myself as a fisherman, but I guess nobody's going to look too closely at someone wearing a cloak and sitting on the edge of the dock, if they aren't obviously carrying a sword."

OOC: I can't really tell from the picture -- are those warehouses/other buildings at the top of the map, or more docks?

ooc: Those are buildings. Notice also that there's no easy access between the piers at the right and left; you have to jump from boat to boat and such, or go slightly north, outside the map, where there's a passage.

I'm waiting for a definitive plan to form. However, it's obvious for your characters that hiding among crates or such for hours would eventually attract even more attention than standing in the open.

(OOC: Unfortunately, while Siobhan is canny enough to think of the plan "Hide really well and hope nobody notices us", she can't process the multiple levels on deception necessary for anything more complicated, and she considers the alternative of standing in plain sight (when the enemies know their looks) to be a bad choice)

"Perhaps we could pretend to work, or even better, get some work where we can watch the docks easily enough as well."

Raven Thorn

"OK. I'm going to go walk around & see if I can find us some work, or rent a boat where we can hide out. I should probably go alone." says Raven. She walks into the dock area, after switching cloaks with Nicollo.

It looks like there's a boat with a cover on it about in the middle of the map. (South of the barge with the dead guy on it :p ). Raven thinks they might be able to hide on there. If someone's there, she'll approach.

"Hi. How's business?" she smiles.

OOC: Is Orerreth staying with us?

Orerreth is with you, listening to your suggestions. "Yes, I have some understanding of magic. Since I investigated at the facility, that shouldn't surprise you too much." is his answer to an early question. "Nothing that can hide us, though"

Raven moves down the piers and boats, and examines the barge she's been looking at before. It rocks on the dirty and oily waters, and has a straw cover and rolls of rope where Raven could lay down and perhaps simulate she's drunk. Raven has a chat with one of the fishermen there, working on a net that needs some repair. With his help Raven locates the barge's owner, who would agree to rent it for two gold coins.

Meanwhile the piers have become somewhat more populated. Nothing remotely like the skyway yesterday, but you can compare yourselves with the people there and without some major look change you stand out among them, and would even if you feigned to work. Now that you can compare outfits, you remember seeing stores where you can find some used clothes.
