1. The Terminator (Terminator 2) - Conan may be the main character, but he isn't so much a *hero*. The Terminator in T2 sacrifices himself and his newfound emotions to save humanity.

4. Ellen Ripley (Alien) - She has absolutely no reason to go back and fight those bugs, but does so anyway.
5. Robin Hood (mythology, movies)
6. Luke Skywalker (Star Wars) - I went with the one who didn't fall from grace.
7. Buffy Summers (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) - She saved the world. A lot.
8. Spider-Man (comics, movies, TV shows) - Great responsibility and all that. Plus he beated outone of my nominees, Sir Galahad.
9. Indiana Jones (Indiana Jones movies)
10. Superman - Frodo failed in the end, y'know. Superman is the one character I can say inspired me through rough times, like my granma's death.
11. Gandalf the Grey (Lord of the Rings) - Don't know the other dude.
12. Hellboy (comics, movie) - Hellboy's fight against his own nature wins it for me.
13. King Arthur (mythology, various novels) - The Journey of the Hero and all that.
14. Samwise Gamgee (Lord of the Rings) - The true hero in LotR.
15. The Phantom - Sorry, Han, but the original costumed crimefighter wins it.
16. Thrall (Warcraft) - How did Speed Racer even make it this far? Thrall carved a nation for his people and rescued them from demonic control.
17. Corwin of Amber (Roger Zelany's Amber novels) - Austin isn't much of a hero. He's more of a shagster.

18. Solomon Kane - Once again, Wolverine isn't much of a hero.

27. Wonder Woman (comics, TV show) - I'm basing this one on George Pérez's run.
28. Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel) - The Hulk was never intended to be a hero, just like Mr. Hyde. Spike at least fought his own bloodthirsty nature and WON his soul back (take THAT, Angel!)
