Maybe I'm just getting grumpy in my old age, but does anybody else get offended that as soon as March rolls around every single last thing in the world is somehow related to St. Patrick's Day?

Because St. Patrick's Day is coming up, you call your article "29 Irish Side Dishes" then in the second line say that they're "Irish-inspired"...
Just having potatoes and/or cabbage in it does not make it an "Irish side dish" or even "Irish-inspired", you bloody leathcheann...

I know I'm second-generation American, and only technically still "Irish" by virtue of the grandfather-rule about Irish citizenship... But kimchi is NOT an acceptable green to put in colcannon.

Well ranted sir. I applaud this. And it made me giggle quite loudly and somewhat embarrassingly. 👍

I could swear that the mods have pointed out various ways of getting this thread shutdown. I don't recall the details, but was one of them brining other conversations here blatantly and then going back and forth with other posters here about them? I'm guessing the former probably escapes notice most of the time. I'm guessing the later probably stops doing so after a few replies.

Saying "the mere possibility of things existing that I don't like bothers me to no end" and "it's up to everyone else in the world to prevent me from encountering anything I don't like" and "everyone else needs to censor their speech and media because I cannot be asked to avoid the things I don't like" and "it might be misused therefore it shouldn't exist" aren't the awesome stances you seem think. You're telling everyone a lot more about yourself than you probably intended.
The harder actual effective censorship gets in the world the louder would be censors have to scream their disapproval at clouds and passers by.

If there's one thing that helps, its having lots of folks using video modification software to make the opposition look like they're on a slip and slide heading for a cliff. Leads to lots of good back and forth.

Wife and I discussed this today. I eagerly await the first AI created deep fakes that swing elections.

(And by eagerly await, I do mean "Please let me off this ride before I witness this.")

Is the trick to just flood the internet with lots of videos with extra appendages on folks so AI doesn't know how many arms, fingers, or noses people are supposed to have? (I mean, reasonable trick - it's not like we're going to educate the viewing audience in any reasonable way to be cautious).

There is a mechanism for fooling some video software particular clothing/accessories I saw being used in Hong Kong I think, but the stuff that is being purpose driven by various groups, likely has more than enough footage to already do the job. Combine it with the voice software that can also take recordings, and then 'speak' written word in your voice?

Yeah, no thanks.

Given the ability of bad actors to already convince people of things that didn't happen (with or without selectively spliced video clips or interviews)... yeah. Bleh. :-(
