I'm not gonna bring it up in the thread because I don't want to inflame anyone's temper, and I know I'll never change anyone's mind on the subject. And nobody wants to hear another rant from an anonymous nerd on the Internet, either. That's fine, I accept that. So I'll just vent my spleen in two short sentences and then drop it.

"Ask your DM" is the best answer to any rules question in D&D. Stop trying to trap the DM with proof-text, and let them do their thing.

More than once my group found out that we'd been playing an RPG incorrectly, according to the rules as written, and just said "screw it." The way that we were doing things was more fun than they way they were designed to be done.
