I have a Scottish last name that no one can seem to get right. Hell, I have a motorcycle industry award sitting in a cabinet, behind me, that has my last name spelt incorrectly on it. They got it wrong while looking at an email from me.

Email signatures are like DMG’s.

It’s on the reader to suss out the writer’s meaning, but it’s on the writer to make the writing as clear as possible. If you’re regularly or widely misunderstood, chances are that’s on you.

I have a French surname with just 5 letters…and it frequently gets an “e” added to it. Or the “b” switched to a “d”. Sometimes both.
