It doesn't help that I was able to make a character that was half-dragonborn, half-tiefling, and half-anime

A few years ago, several of our family were together eating at mom's place. We were bracing ourselves for pork chops, which for the last 50 years she'd typically overcooked to a mediocre dry greyness.

This time, though, everyone took a bite and looked around slightly bewildered. Mom finally said, "Are these pork chops unusually tender and delicious?" Everyone replied, "Yeah, these are great!" And so a pleasant meal was enjoyed by all that day.

She hasn't accidentally made good pork chops again since.

We gotta get your mom brining her pork chops.

My parents would tell you that D&D had me as addicted as a kid as anyone ever got with MMOs.

Wasn't the addiction I was referring to, it was the "my life is over" thing, which at least implies a certain reluctance, if not unwillingness.

Eh. I've been in the MMO scene since 1999. MMO addicts tend to be pretty OK with their habit. It's the ones who have quit who tend to be really angry at them, although they mysteriously want to lurk on the edges of MMO communities for years to tell everyone about it.

Well, my only other foray into MMOs was WoW way way back in the day, where I ended up spending over half of my time gaming the auction house and building up a ludicrous amount of gold for really no good reason. I don't even think I got much past level 30, but that was back in the days; I think that takes like an hour or two at most now.

I'm telling myself that I'm mostly only messing around with FFXIV until BG3 comes out in a format I can play it (less than a month now!) but we'll see how that goes.

Well thats because they are addicts. You are perfectly describing me in terms of MTG, and I openly confess I have a problem.

Fair enough. Never been part of any scene more related to MMOs than TRPGs, never really did video games.

I've met so many extreme MTG addicts that I am seriously made to wonder if the two guys from New York, who stole the $300K in cards, didn't do it to sell them.
