Nearly... I'm one of those weird folks who often appreciates something either despite or even because of just how absolutely objectively bad something is. (As evidenced by my Rocky Horror fandom, lol.)
I know what you mean. It baffles me when people cannot distinguish between things they like and a sort of objective view of quality.

Rings of Power - good example. By most measures, that's a pretty damn quality show. Visually gorgeous. Decent acting. Story is entertaining and engaging. No major plot holes (or no more than usual anyway). All in all, a decent quality show.

But there are people out htere that will tell you in no uncertain terms that it's utter garbage.

Why do people have such a tough time with saying, "I don't like this. It's not for me"?

I mean, heck, I'm not a fan of Game of Thrones. Never got into it. Lots of reasons, but, at the end of the day, I watched like the first three episodes, shrugged and watched something else. But, by no means am I going to say that that is a bad show. It's not. Again, everythign I just said about Rings of Power applies to GoT. I cannot deny that.

It's just not for me.

Because this is the Internet, where all I have to do is use the word "objectively" and suddenly my personal opinion has a lot more weight behind it.

“But I’ve never heard of that well-known person or thing in the niche realm I love” is not the flex you think it is. It’s you showing your ignorance.
