Am I imagining things or did we used to be able to dismiss those banners at the top of the forum page informing us about a certain someone's current Kickstarter? I don't seem to have that option anymore.

Yeah, I've been fortunate enough to go through multiple acquisitions/going public/private, which makes this latest turn surprising, but sadly not that surprising.

The company leaned on outsourcing, and was burned. The company shipped a lot of work overseas, and was burned. The company is now seemingly giving up on a profitable segment of the business, because this co-worker is critical within that segment.

Its like begging to take 3 step's backwards, as people ramp up on the specifics, just because?

I've been trying to wrap my head around it for the last few hours, and its LIKELY just a cost management move, but like... at this point I am just waiting to see if any other shoes need to drop.

Wild.

We just had a long-time network engineer get terminated. Of course there was nothing said by management and none of us have any idea why it happened. He was involved in several large, ongoing projects, so that's going to be fun.

Doing things the exact way they were done 50 years ago, without any sort of self-reflection on why things were done that way or whether it's the right choice to make today.
