I mean, I guess it could be? I'd like to believe that's the case, anyway..."maturity" sounds better than "cranky and old."

But it seems like just a week or three ago, I was really interested in discussing (buzzword) and (catchphrase). I was really enjoying what everyone had to say about them. But now? Now I'm all like "Oh come on, this again!?!" and before I know it I'm out the door and down the street (figuratively speaking). Maybe it's healthy? Maybe I'm just thinner-skinned? Maybe both?

Or you'd watched a thread or two turn badly around there and it just soured you.

Sometimes literally (as in they're springboarding off something someone said). But yes, as I put it the other day "Could you respond to my post and not to the poster in your head?"
It's really annoying.

Ask any question that could be remotely taken as a criticism of WotC and you'll almost certainly get someone jumping to their defense arguing against something you didn't even say. I get it; tons of folks have an axe to grind against WotC so some D&D fans feel the need to defend against that behavior out of habit, but it would really be nice if people actually read what I wrote and respond to that instead of arguing against the point I wasn't making?

Whether religion, politics, movies, games, books, or philosophies, if person A jumped from being an uber proponent of X to an uber-proponent of not-X... I always have the suspicion it says a lot more about A's personality than anything about X or its oppostie.

Even worse is the later, "Not-X", proselytizing.

There is nothing worse than the zeal of the newly converted.
