Given how many people screamed that the pizza parlor wasn't producing the kinds of pizza they want (even though plenty of other people were quite happy eating them), it's interesting to notice that, now that the parlor has switched back to more traditional fare, there's a lot fewer people thread crapping about what the parlor is making.
 

That depends on what you add to the d20, or what you compare it to. If typical values are in the 0 to +15 range, like in 5e, yeah the d20 is a very strong determinant of the final result. If typical values are 0 to +50, the d20 matters a lot less.

It still doesn't actually make for consistent results unless a lot of the rolls are, effectively, completely pointless. There's just not much middle ground with big linear rolls barring some other jiggery-pokey with how the die is used.
