Any time someone starts a poster with "so what you're saying is..." it seems like they always end it with the most extreme, least charitable version of the other poster's opinion.

I feel like I'm seeing a lot of threads lately in which folks are trying to defend their own nuanced opinions, but pigeonhole everyone else into narrow, extreme opinions.

A "backseat driver" is someone who doesn't want to drive, but tells everyone else how to do it for them from the backseat.

Ergo, a backseat Dungeon Master is someone who doesn't want to be the DM, but tells everyone else how to do it for them.
