I know too much about nautical history and modern-day piracy to ever want to actually be one.Wanting to be a pirate is a legitimate explanation
The real trick will be finding the eight-legged horse, although I suppose I could go high concept and hire four pallbearers to lug me around on a coffin whenever I go out on errands. Not sure if my insurance will cover that, though.Oh no! Wofano, you need to get two ravens immediately!
Also, very best wishes from here for endurances, good care, and all the mending that can come your way.

Thankfully I haven't lost any appendages yet so as long as I don't acquire a parrot I shouldn't be mistaken for the scum of the sea here in upstate New York.

This development is less dire than it sounds and not entirely unexpected, but thanks for the wishes anyway.

It's interesting listening to the old time radio shows from WWII and right after for the rationing (during the war) and then the push to take in returning troops as boarders and get more houses built (right after).
I wonder what the prevalence of boarding houses was back then vs today? (I know in my grandma's diary she and several others had rooms in a house - I don't remember if it was owned by an older couple or a widow).
I spotted a thread in which one page had only 2 of its 20 posts visible to me because I was ignoring so many posters. Time to unfollow that thread.
Anything that might be used as a boarding house, today, has likely been turned into either a B&B, or rented out on AirB&B.Its not that uncommon locally to find someone renting out a room, but I'd bet there are some zoning issues that have long since killed old fashioned boarding houses.
