When I had my wisdom teeth removed I told the dentist I wanted them back for this reason. I might have been under the effects of the gas still. :ROFLMAO:

Oh, and get knocked out if you are having this procedure. My insurance wouldn't cover it so I stayed awake to save like a 100 bucks. Not worth it.
:ROFLMAO:

My man, you have just triggered decades old trauma from when mine got pulled. One of the top 5 worst experiences in my life.

My wisdom were actually not a problem at all. I had a crap dentist that thought my pain was from them. Turned out to be a bad molar which had to be root canal like 6 weeks after my wisdom teeth were out. Thats a whole other story.

Anyways, the doc gets out this needle that im pretty sure was as long as my arm. The gas really did its job becasue without it im pretty sure I would have jumped outta that chair and out the nearest window. For days afterwards I could still feel that needle going into my jaw...
I have a similar issue with getting the jab at the dentist. The length of the needle doesn't matter. It always feels like it's being jammed into my brain. The freezing also seems to take an inordinate amount of time to wear off, for me. The last time it was done, against my objections, it took almost a week before it was completely gone. Of course this goes against any medical literature that I've been able to find, but it's my experience.

After that last time I had them put in my file that I was only to receive gas. This has resulted in some complications because the practice that I use has had a rather large number of new dentists, recently, some due to my regular dentist going on mat leave. I have had to explain to every new dentist that no, drilling isn't going to send me into convulsions of pain. My pain tolerance is actually pretty high, apart from getting the needle. They always seem to be amazed. I even had a tooth capped just under gas. It's not that it doesn't hurt. The gas just takes away any care I have that it hurts.

One time I got a double root canal, then walked a mile across town to run a meeting. Maybe y'all are just built different :p
I've only had two root canals; both on the same tooth. That crappy dentist I mentioned, yeah he did the first one. I liked the dentist at first becasue he seemed to dispense with the chit chat and just got to business. Now I just think he was impatient and hasnt been my dentist in a long time. Anyways, about half way through my novocane started to wear off and I asked the dentist for more. This seemed to annoy him, which was a worrying sign. He finished the root canal and sent me on my way. A few hours later I was in intense pain and called the office back. The dentist said all I needed was advil. I called a few hours later and told him advil wasnt going to cut it and he finally got me a small vicadin script. After a few days the pain went away. That lasted about 12 months before the pain came back. I was sent to a specialist who did another root canal on the same tooth. Took him half the time, I was properly hit with novocane, and was able to go to work right after. Night and day difference.

It can be very weird with root canals. The one I had in my life, I took a Tylenol with Codeine (which I'd been taking for the pain for the tooth) right before it because I'd heard such horrors. Between it and the injected analgesic, I nearly fell asleep while they were doing it.

I'm given to believe this is not normal.
